NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A viral video circulating on social media has sparked a heated debate after users claimed it shows Israeli tourists making death threats against American activists in New York.

The footage has drawn thousands of views and fueled strong reactions online, with many sharing it as evidence of escalating tensions linked to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. But does the video actually show what users claim?

Claim: Israeli tourists made death threats against American activists in New York

An X user, @Jvnior, shared a video of a heated confrontation on a New York City street involving an older man identified in the post as an Israeli tourist and several women.

The post claimed the incident showed Israeli tourists making death threats against American activists and stated, "BREAKING: Israeli tourists make death threats against American activists in New York. They say they will kill Americans. That's Israel."

The video shows both sides exchanging heated words, pushing each other, and making controversial gestures during the confrontation.

According to reports, the incident occurred on July 14, 2026, after pro-Palestinian demonstrators burned an Israeli flag during a solidarity protest in New York City's Tompkins Square Park.

Videos of the flag burning and the ensuing confrontation circulated widely on social media, with users offering conflicting accounts of what happened.

Fact Check: Identities of individuals unconfirmed

The claim is unconfirmed. The available evidence does not establish that the people in the viral video were Israeli tourists, nor does it independently confirm that they explicitly threatened to kill American activists.

Although videos show a confrontation in New York City involving individuals described online as Israeli tourists and pro-Palestinian protesters, their identities have not been independently verified.

The footage captures a physical scuffle and a heated verbal exchange following a flag-burning protest.

Reports confirm that tensions escalated after demonstrators burned an Israeli flag, but they do not independently verify claims that anyone made explicit death threats.

While some participants exchanged hostile remarks and gestures, the viral posts overstate the incident by portraying it as a confirmed threat to murder American activists.

The video also appears to have originated from an X user named 'The Resonance,' who captioned it: "Pro-Israel group harassed, assaulted, spat on, and made death threats against pro-Palestinian activists in New York." This differs from the captions used in many later posts.

As the video spread across social media, users added their own descriptions and claims while sharing the same footage of individuals expressing anger after protesters burned an Israeli flag. Based on the available evidence, the claim remains unverified.
