Trump says Israel agrees to Gaza 'withdrawal line', hostage exchange after ceasefire talks

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump claimed on October 4 that Israel has agreed to an initial withdrawal line following negotiations over a Gaza ceasefire, and that the proposal has been shared with Hamas.
“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas. When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, STAY TUNED!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Trump issues warning to Hamas
Earlier on Saturday, Trump urged Hamas to act without delay, praising Israel for pausing its strikes to allow the peace process to advance.
“I appreciate that Israel has temporarily stopped the bombing in order to give the Hostage release and Peace Deal a chance to be completed. Hamas must move quickly, or else all bets will be off. I will not tolerate delay, which many think will happen, or any outcome where Gaza poses a threat again. Let’s get this done, FAST. Everyone will be treated fairly!,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks gains momentum
The proposed US-brokered plan appears to have gained tentative backing from both Israel and Hamas, raising hopes for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he hopes to announce the release of all hostages “in the coming days.”
Indirect negotiations between the sides are expected to begin Monday in Egypt, though several details remain uncertain — including Hamas’s formal acceptance and how Israel’s security concerns will be addressed.
Netanyahu has already stressed that Israel will not fully withdraw from Gaza. Despite progress toward a ceasefire, violence continued on Saturday, with local health officials reporting dozens killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza — underscoring the fragility of the peace effort.

Qatar praises Trump as key to securing Gaza peace deal
Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani earlier praised President Donald Trump’s role in the peace process, describing him as the “only one” capable of securing peace in Gaza.
“I believe that the meeting with the Arab and Muslim leaders that took place with President Trump was a very important meeting. It was a very important event during the UNGA. Basically, the main purpose of that is to highlight for the president the danger for the region and that we need to put a stop to what Israel is doing,” Al Thani said.
