WASHINGTON, DC: Amid pressure against President Donald Trump’s administration over rising gas prices, a social media post claimed that the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, said that if people can’t afford gas, let them ride ponies. Several users criticized the claim and Ivanka. But is the claim real?

According to a viral post that surfaced on X, Ivanka Trump said, “If they can’t afford gas, let them ride ponies.”

The post has garnered almost a hundred thousand views as of this writing, with comments criticizing the First Daughter, indicating that many believe the claim is true.

Meanwhile, a few others remained skeptical and called the quote fake, prompting a verification of the viral post.

The claim surfaced after Ivanka posted a video of her teenage daughter, Arabella Kushner, riding a horse on a beach at sunset to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," with many incorrectly identifying the rider as Ivanka herself, prompting criticisms that she is tone-deaf amid high gas prices, inflation, and other costs.

The criticisms against her continue despite her turning off the comments under the post.

Fact Check: Ivanka Trump never made the remark

Although it is true that Trump’s daughter posted a video of her teenage daughter riding a horse, there is no evidence of her telling people to ride ponies if they can’t afford gas.

There are no social media posts, official statements, or transcripts from Jared Kushner’s wife that support the viral claim.

If Ivanka had really remarked, it would not go unreported by prominent news outlets and would have made headlines.

Moreover, the claim was posted by a popular parody account called ‘The Babylon Bibi,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘satire.’

Trump recently predicted that gas prices would drop sharply once the United States wins its conflict with Iran, as Americans are struggling with gas that’s clocking in at more than $4 a gallon, which he claims will drop not just to $3 a gallon but under $2.

“Oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran,” Trump said.

“Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon. It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA! President DJT.”
