WASHINGTON, DC: The United States carried out Operation Midnight Hammer on June 22, launching a series of airstrikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities. The Pentagon described it as “the largest B-2 operational strike in US history.”

In the aftermath of the airstrikes, a rumor began circulating online, claiming that former Vice President Kamala Harris once said: “If we elect Trump, we will be at war within six months.” But is there any truth to this claim? Let’s find out below.

Claim: Kamala Harris said 'if we elect Trump, we will be at war within six months'

In mid-June 2025, social media users circulated an alleged quote alongside various photos of Kamala Harris, including illustrations and added text — asking, “Was Kamala Harris right about Trump?”

The quote attributed to Harris read, "If we elect Trump, we will be at war within six months."

The rumor spread across social media platforms such as X, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Reddit.

Fact Check: False, no evidence to prove Kamala Harris made such statement

The claims made in the online rumors are false, as there is no evidence that Kamala Harris ever publicly said, “If we elect Trump, we will be at war within six months,” according to Snopes.

Moreover, a search for the alleged quote on search engines such as Google alongside Harris’ name yielded no results from any credible news outlets, the fact-checking site reported.

Additionally, a thorough review of transcripts from the Harris-Trump presidential debate and Harris’s speeches during the 2024 election cycle revealed no mention of the quote, according to Snopes.

During her speech accepting the Democratic nomination at the 2024 Democratic National Convention on August 22, Kamala Harris mentioned "war" in the context of the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, but she did not say that Trump would lead the US into a war.

However, she did state that Trump "threatened to abandon NATO" and "encouraged Vladimir Putin to invade our allies."

She also added, "I will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to defend our forces and our interests against Iran and Iran-backed terrorists," according to the outlet.

Ex Bill Clinton official says Kamala Harris wouldn't have carried out Operation Midnight Hammer

Jamie Metzl, a former National Security Council staffer under President Bill Clinton, praised Trump’s successful airstrikes on Iran and claimed that Kamala Harris would likely have lacked the “courage” to authorize such a mission if she were president.

Metzl wrote on X, "I am not a fan of many of Donald Trump‘s actions, but I will speak openly and honestly when he takes bold steps defending America’s interests, as he did tonight."

In a separate post, he added, “I’m not a blind tribalist and am perfectly comfortable praising President Trump for bold and courageous actions in support of America’s core national interests, as he took last night.”

He went on to say, “Although I believe electing Kamala Harris would have been better for our democracy, society, and economy, as well as for helping the most vulnerable people in the United States and around the world — I also believe VP Harris would not have had the courage or fortitude to take such an essential step as the president took last night.”
