WASHINGTON, DC: Amid growing attention over Natalie Harp’s unusually close relationship with President Donald Trump, two letters reportedly written by Harp to Trump were published. The letters have since drawn further attention to their relationship and Harp’s close role in Trump’s inner circle. Let’s fact-check the claim about the alleged letters.

Claim: Natalie Harp wrote two intimate letters to Trump

Trump’s close aide Natalie Harp drew attention in August 2026 as reports examined the nature of their relationship. Images of two emotional letters reportedly written by Harp to Trump in 2023 also circulated online.

Trump biographer Michael Wolff obtained the letters, and The Daily Beast published their full text.  In one letter, she allegedly described herself as “unworthy” of Trump. Harp also wrote that she was nearing burnout and said she had begun to “envy those whose only ‘job’ seems to be to talk with you, and look pretty.”

She added, “I want that job!!” Harp also wrote that she wanted to be around Trump at dinner because “that’s who I used to be to you when I was a ‘Talkshow Host.’”

In the second letter, Harp wrote, “I want things to always be right between us,” before adding, “You are all that matters to me.” She also referred to Trump as her “Guardian and Protector in this Life.”

Fact Check: The claim is unconfirmed

The two letters went viral online after Michael Wolff obtained them from anonymous sources. However, their authenticity could not be independently verified. Until more evidence becomes available, the claim remains unrated.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle defended Harp in an email to Snopes but did not directly address the letters. He said, “Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest-working aides on President Trump’s team.”

He also criticized media coverage of Trump and his administration, saying the media should focus on “reporting real news” instead of attacking public servants.

Wolff first published excerpts from the letters in his 2025 book 'All or Nothing', which covered Trump’s second presidential campaign. The New York Times later published additional excerpts. On August 20, 2026, The Daily Beast published the letters in full.

Natalie Harp allegedly wrote intimate letters to Trump during his Scotland trips

According to the reports, Harp wrote the letters in May 2023, around the time of Trump’s trips to Scotland and Ireland, where he played golf.

In one letter, Harp wrote, “I’ll never forget when you made that promise to me after losing my Dad, and I know how happy he is right now that I did get to go to Scotland and Ireland, as he always wanted for me.” The letter then included her statement that she was “unworthy.”

In the second letter, Harp reportedly apologized for an incident during their return trip. She wrote, “I’m sorry. I thought I was the only one left behind last night, and had no idea Margo’s car was also pulled over, and sent back to the Airport.”

She explained that she panicked after being left alone in a van outside Customs without her passport. She added that she “should have just called Secret Service instead of you” and apologized if she had been “an embarrassment walking the course in Scotland.”
