Fact Check: Did OJ Simpson invite Ghislaine Maxwell as his plus-one to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding?

WASHINGTON, DC: In late February 2026, a photo went viral claiming to show disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, attending former President Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea's, wedding in 2010.

Following this, a rumor circulated online claiming that Ghislaine Maxwell was invited by former football player OJ Simpson as his plus-one to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Ghislaine Maxwell was invited by OJ Simpson as his plus-one to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding

An X user wrote in a post, "They finally dug up the Chelsea Clinton invitation list, and Ghislaine Maxwell was indeed a plus one at the wedding. The guest who brought her? You guessed it: OJ Simpson."

The viral post garnered more than 1.5 million views on X, and more than 18,000 users liked the post. 

Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for her role in Jeffrey Epstein's network and remains incarcerated, serving a 20-year sentence. As of early March 2026, many notable developments have emerged amid ongoing Epstein file releases and congressional scrutiny.

Maxwell was transferred from a higher-security facility in Florida to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Texas. This move drew criticism and investigation. 

Meanwhile, in February 2026, Maxwell appeared virtually for a deposition before the House Oversight Committee as part of the Epstein probe. She invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and refused to answer questions on grooming, trafficking, co-conspirators, or related topics.

However, her attorney stated that Maxwell would cooperate/testify fully if she were granted presidential clemency, but nothing as such has been reported yet.

Fact Check: False, OJ Simpson was incarcerated at the time

Though Ghislaine Maxwell did attend Chelsea Clinton's wedding back in 2010, the rumor that she was OJ Simpson's 'plus one' at the wedding is false, as the former footballer was incarcerated at the time and could not have attended.

Simpson was convicted in December 2008 on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas and was sentenced to 33 years in prison, with a minimum of nine years before parole eligibility. He remained behind bars until his 2017 release. 

Moreover, no credible sources link Simpson to Maxwell at the event, or at all in this context. 

Interestingly, multiple reports confirmed that Maxwell attended the wedding as the date of Ted Waitt, a Microsoft billionaire, who was her boyfriend in 2010. He was the guest, and Maxwell was his plus-one, as reports claimed.
