Fact Check: Did protesters form an 'EPSTEIN' banner on Trump's birthday demanding release of files?
WASHINGTON, DC: A viral post circulating online claims that hundreds of protesters gathered on San Francisco's Ocean Beach to form a giant human banner spelling "EPSTEIN" inside a file-folder outline labeled "TRUMP."
According to the post, demonstrators staged the event on June 14, 2026, ahead of President Donald Trump's 80th birthday, to demand the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and challenge official birthday celebrations. But is the post real?

A viral post circulating on social media shares an aerial image showing hundreds of people gathered on San Francisco's Ocean Beach in what appears to be a coordinated protest. The post carries the caption, "Human sign on San Francisco Ocean Beach today to celebrate Trump birthday."
The image, which has not been independently verified, appears to show protesters arranged on the sand to spell out the word "EPSTEIN" in large capital letters.
The formation sits inside the outline of a giant file folder, with the word "TRUMP" displayed in red capital letters on the folder's tab. To the right of the main display, another group of participants appears to form a small American flag alongside the phrase "FILES TO TRIALS" written on the sand.
The protesters appear to have created the large-scale display to demand the release of Epstein-related files. But does the viral image actually show a real protest on San Francisco's Ocean Beach?
Fact Check: True, Protesters formed giant 'EPSTEIN' beach banner
The claim is true. The human banner shown in the viral image is real and appeared on Saturday, June 13, ahead of President Donald Trump's 80th birthday. Protesters formed a giant human banner spelling "EPSTEIN" inside the outline of a file folder labeled "TRUMP."
The display called for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein that have not yet been made public. Outside the folder, another group of protesters displayed a US flag next to the words "FILES TO TRIALS."
Although the US Department of Justice has released many records through its Epstein Library, officials say some documents that mention Trump remain withheld to protect the privacy of accusers and other sensitive information.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has downplayed his relationship with Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019.
Organizers staged the Ocean Beach demonstration a day before Trump's 80th birthday celebration in Washington, DC, which also coincided with Flag Day. Trump planned to mark the occasion with mixed martial arts fights held in a large octagon on the White House South Lawn.
The Ocean Beach banner was created by travel writer Brad Newsham and architectural designer Travis Van Brasch. The event marked a return to the large-scale artistic protests they have organized in the past.
The same beach hosted another major demonstration in March 2026, when thousands of protesters formed a massive display reading "TRUMP MUST GO NOW!"
