Fact Check: Did Secret Service ban Tiger Woods from driving Trump’s grandchildren?
JUPITER ISLAND, FLORIDA: Golf icon Tiger Woods made headlines on Friday, March 27, after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) following a car crash in Florida.
It also marked his fourth auto-related incident in his career, and his second involving suspected impaired driving. After the incident, a rumor circulated online claiming that the Secret Service banned Tiger Woods from driving President Donald Trump’s grandchildren. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Secret Service banned Tiger Woods from driving Trump’s grandchildren
In March 2025, Tiger Woods publicly confirmed his relationship with Vanessa Trump, ex-wife of the POTUS' eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. Trump Jr and Vanessa share five children.
Following the recent DUI arrest of Tiger Woods, social media posts claimed that the Secret Service had banned Tiger Woods from driving Donald Trump’s grandchildren. An X account posted, "Secret Service 'banned Tiger Woods from driving Trump’s grandkids'."

Woods was driving a Land Rover at high speed on Friday on a residential road when he tried to pass a pressure cleaning truck, clipped it, and rolled his SUV onto its side.
However, no one was seriously injured as Woods and the truck driver were unharmed. The golf legend crawled out through the passenger door.
Woods was arrested and charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He spent about 8 hours in Martin County Jail and was released that evening.
This was Woods' second DUI arrest, as in 2017, he was arrested in Jupiter, Florida, after being found asleep in his car.
Fact Check: Unrated, media reports cite an anonymous source
The claim made in the X post that the Secret Service banned Tiger Woods from driving Donald Trump’s grandchildren is unrated, as an exclusive New York Post article published March 28 mentioned it, citing an anonymous source.
A source informed the outlet, "There would be concern if their children weren’t being protected by Secret Service." As per the insider, the agents are "certainly not letting Tiger Woods – even without the DUI- drive the kids.
Interestingly, President Trump called Woods a friend and spoke about the 'difficulty' the golfer was experiencing, as the POTUS spoke to reporters as he arrived in Miami on Friday to appear at the Saudi-backed Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit.
He told reporters, "I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty."
The story was further carried by other news outlets such as The Daily Mail.
However, it must be noted that the claim has been made by an anonymous source, and there has been no on-the-record statement from the Secret Service, Trump family, Woods, or Vanessa Trump confirming or denying the 'ban'.
Moreover, no evidence has emerged of an official Secret Service policy document or public order specifically naming Tiger Woods. It’s described as agents simply not allowing it in practice due to security concerns.
