WASHINGTON, DC: There’s a story making the rounds online claiming Donald and Melania Trump spent New Year’s Day 2026 helping out and volunteering at an orphanage in Pennsylvania.

Apparently, they gave out gifts and spent time with the kids, all without trying to draw attention to themselves.

Several social media posts and shared videos claim that the Trumps quietly visited an orphanage in Pennsylvania on New Year’s morning, where they interacted with children, delivered gifts, and assisted as volunteers.

Claim: Donald and Melania Trump spent New Year's Day volunteering at an orphanage

In early January 2026, social media started buzzing with a heartwarming story about Donald and Melania Trump.

The story claimed the Trumps spent New Year’s Day at a small orphanage in Pennsylvania, serving 300 meals to the children there.

Supposedly, they walked from table to table, greeting each child by name.

One Facebook post with the story said, “On the first morning of the New Year, while most of the country was still easing into celebration, Donald Trump and Melania Trump quietly arrived at a small orphanage in Pennsylvania. No cameras followed them. No announcements were made.”

“The orphanage was home to hundreds of children who had grown up without parents but never stopped chasing their dreams. That morning, Trump and Melania didn't come to speak; they came to serve,” the post said.

That post, which has since been removed, directed readers to a January 3, 2026, article titled, "ONE UNEXPECTED SENTENCE FROM TRUMP AND MELANIA THAT CHANGED A NEW YEAR'S MORNING FOREVER! 001."

The post read, “Donald Trump and Melania Trump arrived without ceremony at a small orphanage in Pennsylvania, a place rarely mentioned in headlines but deeply familiar with resilience.”

Fact Check: There is no credible evidence that the Trumps visited an orphanage on New Year’s Day

According to Snopes, no trustworthy news outlet, official statement, or firsthand account supports the claim that Donald and Melania Trump visited or volunteered at an orphanage on New Year’s Day 2026.

Although the story was shared online, fact-checkers have already debunked it, citing a lack of credible evidence.

Moreover, searches show that no credible local or national news organizations documented the alleged event, which would have drawn coverage had it really happened.

Even if the Trumps did not make an announcement or pose for photos, as the Facebook posts claim, there would likely be some official or independent record of the visit.

Press pool reports from The American Presidency Project show that on January 1, 2026, the president's motorcade traveled to the Trump International Golf Club in the morning and returned to Mar-a-Lago later that afternoon.

Thus, the claim that Donald and Melania spent New Year’s Day 2026 at an orphanage in Pennsylvania is unsupported by credible evidence and rated false.
