WASHINGTON, DC: A viral X post claims that President Donald Trump called for an end to the "transgender mutilation" of American children. The statement quickly gained attention online because it aligns with Trump's previous comments and policy actions on transgender healthcare for minors.

In 2025, Trump signed executive orders that characterized gender-affirming treatments such as puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and certain surgeries for minors as forms of chemical or surgical mutilation and sought to restrict federal support for them. But did Trump actually make the statement now circulating on social media?

Claim: Trump called for an end to 'transgender mutilation' of American children

The rumor appears to have originated from the crypto and news-focused X account @Coinvo. The account shared a post stating, "JUST IN: President Trump says there must be no 'transgender mutilization' of American kids." The post quickly gained traction on the platform, accumulating roughly 49,000 views, 1,100 likes, 70 reposts, and 57 replies at the time of writing.

The post sparked a divided reaction among users. Supporters praised the statement as an effort to protect children, while critics argued that the language was inflammatory and objected to its characterization of transgender-related medical care for minors.

Although Trump has made similar statements in speeches, interviews, and social media posts, the viral post did not provide any details about where or when he allegedly remarked. Instead, it presented the statement as a standalone claim without an official source, transcript, video, or attribution.

The lack of context led some users to question the authenticity of the quote and fueled speculation about whether Trump had actually made the statement.

Fact Check: Trump did make the statement in a Truth Social post

The claim is true. Trump made the statement in a Truth Social post on June 17 while promoting what he called the "Save America Act." In the post, he wrote: "The Save America Act! 1. All voters must show photo I.D. (Identification!). 2. All voters must show proof of citizenship. 3. No mail-in ballots (except for illness, disability, military, or travel!). 4. No men in women’s sports. 5. No transgender mutilization surgery on our children."

The viral claim accurately reflects Trump's post, although many social media posts sharing the quote omitted the source and context.

Trump used the term multiple times throughout 2025 and 2026 in Truth Social posts, speeches, and public remarks. In recent remarks, including statements made in 2026, Trump said, "No men playing in women's sports, and we want no transgender mutilization of our children."

Trump has also used phrases such as "mutilation of children" and "chemical and surgical mutilation" when discussing gender-affirming care for minors. On January 28, 2025, he signed Executive Order 14187, titled Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.

The order describes certain gender-affirming medical interventions for minors as "chemical and surgical mutilation," restricts federal funding for such treatments, and directs federal agencies to take steps to limit related practices.

The Trump administration has presented these policies as part of its effort to fulfil campaign promises aimed at preventing what it characterizes as irreversible medical harm to children.
