WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump shared a corrected post on Truth Social on Thursday, March 5, after it drew strong backlash from conservatives. The original post appeared to support transgender surgery for children if there was written approval from parents.

The message was linked to the proposed Save America Act. The plan said that “transgender mutilation surgery for children” would require written parental consent. The proposal also included other election-related measures, such as mandatory voter ID and a ban on mail-in ballots.

Trump removes post after conservatives criticize transgender topic

Trump shared a post on Friday, March 6, listing several policy points. The first point said that all voters must show a voter ID. The second said, "All voters must show proof of citizenship in order to vote." The third point read, "No mail-in ballots (except for illness, disability, military, or travel)." Another line said, "No men in women's sports."

The last point drew the most attention and backlash. It said, "No transgender mutilation surgery for children, without the express…" After the criticism, Trump deleted the post. He later shared a new version that simply said, “NO TRANSGENDER MUTILATION SURGERY FOR CHILDREN.”

Republicans have pushed laws to limit gender-affirming medical care for minors. At the federal level, Republicans also supported similar efforts during the Trump administration. The issue has faced criticism from Democrats and medical groups, while many conservative voters support stricter limits on transgender health care.

Trump faces backlash after controversial post

Trump’s post sparked backlash, with several critics speaking out. Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted: “Trump now supports transgender mutilation surgeries of children if their parents want it! What is wrong with him??? To do this to a child is absolutely disgusting, wrong, and a complete perversion of God’s creation AND NOW THE PRESIDENT SAYS IT’S OK AS LONG AS THESE SICK PARENTS AGREE!!!”

“‘No trans surgery for children without parental consent’ is meaningless,” weighed in Daily Wire host Matt Walsh. “The kids who are mutilated almost always have parental consent. The consent of the parents is not the issue. The issue is that the procedure is barbaric and insane, no matter if parents agree to it or not.”

Cassandra MacDonald reacts with “what the f,” as backlash grows.

On the other hand, Thomas Massie stated the change to Trump's post: “His post transitioned.”

Patrick Casey backs ban, says “Transgender surgeries for minors should be banned regardless of what their parents want.”
