WASHINGTON, DC: Ahead of the much-anticipated midterm elections, which are only a week away, a rumor circulated on social media platforms claiming to show a post by President Donald Trump declaring a landslide Republican victory. The claim has sparked mockery and criticism of the president, with many online users calling for a fact-check.

Claim: Trump declared a Republican victory before midterms

The screenshot has spread on multiple platforms, garnering millions of views (@Chickie__/X)

The rumor surfaced as a screenshot, claiming to show a post by Trump on his official Truth Social handle.

The alleged post read, “Why are we wasting time counting ballots? Everybody already knows the Republicans WON the 2026 midterms in a historic landslide! ALL 50 STATES!”

“I am officially declaring victory for EVERY Republican candidate right now. Every Senate seat, every House seat, every governor's race. The Democrats can count all they want, but it won't change the fact that we won.”

“If the Democrats claim to have won even one race, we will immediately contest the results. Every state, every county, every vote. I have already put the United States Supreme Court on notice. They better be prepared, because we will not accept anything less than a complete Republican victory!”

“We won everything. A total landslide. The biggest midterm victory in American history! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Fact Check: Donald Trump made no such post

However, the claim is false, as no such post exists on any of Trump’s social media handles.

Searches on the president’s official Truth Social handle and commentary X accounts that automatically archive all his social media posts yielded no results that match the text in the screenshot.

If Trump had really made such a post declaring Republican victory in the midterms and undermining ballot counts, prominent national media outlets would have widely reported it, making headlines and triggering a nationwide debate.

A search on Google for the post revealed that the screenshot originated from a Facebook account called ‘Branson Area Breaking News,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘satire or parody.’

The screenshot surfaced as the GOP is projected to lose the upcoming November election.

Earlier this month, Trump acknowledged the historical midterm pattern himself, saying, “Typically, a president, Republican or Democrat, doesn’t win the midterms. We’re going to try and change that around.”

He went on to claim that Republicans had delivered “the largest tax cuts in history” and accused Democrats of seeking “the biggest increase in taxes in the history of our country.”
