Claim: Trump assures grocery price drop after renaming things 'America'
According to a viral X post, President Trump has assured that the cost of groceries should drop soon as he renames a few more things "America."
"Once everything is renamed 'America', the cost of groceries will fall like you won't believe," Trump allegedly said. "You're going to be so shocked, you'll go into the store and say, 'Wow. I didn't even know eggs could be so cheap. I didn't think it was possible.'"
"People will be pinching themselves because they won't think it's real, how inexpensive everything will be. There will be mass pinching because of it, and it's going to be incredible."
The claim drew conflicting reactions from online users, with many appearing to believe it to be true, while a few others dismissed it as fake and called for a fact-check.
Fact Check: The claim originated as satire
The claim, however, is false, as there is no evidence that the president made such a remark.
There are no official statements, announcements, or social media posts from Trump or his administration about assuring that grocery prices will come down if more things are named ‘America.’

Moreover, the claim was posted by a popular parody account called ‘The Babylon Bee,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘Fake news you can trust.’

The claim surfaced after Lake Ontario was renamed to Lake America following Trump’s new executive order.
Trump also floated the idea of renaming the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans next, stating, “As you know, we took something called the Gulf of Mexico, we changed it, and now it's very routinely the Gulf of America.”
“So if you think about it, we have a gulf, and we have a lake. Now all we need is an ocean,” he continued. “So maybe we'll have to change the name of the Atlantic and/or the Pacific. Maybe we'll change them both.”
