WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, 80, has sparked new online speculation after appearing with a noticeably different hairstyle during a speech in Las Vegas on Wednesday, August 5. Viral photos and videos led several X users to claim that Trump was wearing a "new wig." The buzz comes just days after another viral clip showed his hair blowing in the wind, revealing more of his scalp than usual. Let's fact-check the claim.

Claim: Trump wore a new wig during Las Vegas speech

On Wednesday, August 5, Trump spoke at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas about his trade disputes with Canada. During his speech, he criticized the Canadian government, saying, "Canada's nasty. They are. They're nasty. I love the people, but they're nasty. Nasty leadership."

While Trump's remarks made headlines, his appearance also drew attention online. Many social media users claimed his hair looked fuller and noticeably blonder than it had just days earlier, leading to speculation that he was wearing a new wig.

One X user shared a video from a few days earlier showing Trump's hair blowing in the wind and revealing more of his scalp. The user wrote, "Trump's hair 2 days ago. Now he has a big blonde rug on his head!"

Journalist Aaron Rupar also commented on the change, writing, "President Donald Trump appeared in Las Vegas Wednesday with a noticeably fuller head of hair than he had just days earlier, sparking immediate online debate. Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?" He also noted that a video from Sunday showed more of Trump's scalp than was visible during the Las Vegas event.

Other users mocked Trump's appearance. One wrote, "I can't stop laughing at Trump's new wig. Or whatever the F$&k that creature on his head is." Another simply posted, "Trump has a new toupee."

Fact Check: False, no credible evidence supports the claim

The claim is false. There is no credible evidence that President Donald Trump was wearing a new wig. The rumor started because his hair looked different in viral photos and videos. However, no official statement, credible news report, or other verified evidence supports the claim that he got or wore a new wig.

Rumors about Trump's hair are not new. People have questioned whether he wears a wig for years.

During his first presidential campaign in 2015, Trump denied the claim while speaking at an event in South Carolina. "I don't wear a toupee, it's my hair, I swear," he told the audience, according to reports.

Trump also held up a copy of The New York Times, saying the newspaper had claimed he wore a toupee. To prove otherwise, he invited a woman from the audience onto the stage and asked her to examine and tug on his hair.
