WASHINGTON, DC: Amid President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing, a viral online claim alleged that Chinese President Xi Jinping handed Trump a list of Democrats and former US generals during their summit. The post further claimed that figures including Mark Kelly, Elissa Slotkin, Tim Walz, and ex-generals Mark Milley, James Mattis, and John Kelly were named for allegedly using secret back channels to undermine Trump’s China policy and pursue personal gain.

The allegation also framed these individuals as engaging in treasonous activity and accused them of encouraging Chinese officials to bypass Trump on foreign policy matters.

Claim: Xi Jinping gave Trump a ‘treasonous list’ during Beijing summit

A viral post shared by X user @JoshHall2024 claimed that Xi Jinping presented Trump with a list naming several Democratic politicians and former military leaders during their Beijing meeting.

The post stated, “CHINESE PRESIDENT XI REVEALS TO PRESIDENT TRUMP LIST OF DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS, WOKE GENERALS WHO TOLD HIM TO ‘IGNORE’ WHAT TRUMP SAYS, GO THROUGH THEM FOR ALL FOREIGN POLICY MATTERS IN SECRET BACK CHANNEL.”

It further claimed that Trump and Xi reached an agreement to improve relations during the visit, and that Xi allegedly handed over a “MASSIVE LIST OF TOP US POLITICIANS AND GENERALS who have been betraying our country by undermining the foreign policy of the Trump administration with China in exchange for our President agreeing to ease economic sanctions on the communist country.”

The post named Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and former generals Mark Milley, James Mattis, and John Kelly as individuals allegedly included on the so-called “treasonous list.”

It also alleged that these figures instructed Chinese officials to bypass the US president and instead communicate through secret back channels because of concerns about Trump’s leadership, while supporting more China-friendly policies in exchange for personal gain.

The post concluded by accusing the named officials of acting as “turncoats” and attempting a “coup” against a duly elected president through collaboration with a foreign government.

Fact Check: No evidence Xi handed Trump a list targeting US officials

The claim that Xi Jinping handed Donald Trump a list naming Democratic politicians and former US generals for allegedly undermining his China policy is unsubstantiated as of May 2026.

While Trump and Xi have held high-level meetings in 2026 amid tensions surrounding trade, Taiwan, and military issues, there has been no official confirmation or credible reporting suggesting that such a list was presented during their summit.

A review of reporting from major news organizations and official statements related to Trump’s Beijing visit found no mention of any “treasonous list” involving US political figures or former military officials.

Recent developments involving Xi Jinping have centered on internal military purges and anti-corruption investigations within China’s armed forces. Those actions relate to domestic Chinese political and military matters and are unrelated to claims involving US politicians or former generals.

The viral narrative appears to combine unrelated geopolitical developments and domestic US political tensions into an unverified conspiracy-style allegation.

No credible evidence currently supports the claim that Xi provided Trump with a list accusing American officials of secretly coordinating with China against his administration.
