HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Zendaya has become the subject of a viral claim after an X user shared a post alleging that the actress revealed details about her future family plans in an interview.

The post claimed that Zendaya and Tom Holland agreed not to have children, that she would always prioritize her career over parenthood, and that she planned to adopt children instead. Let's fact-check the claim.

Claim: Tom Holland and Zendaya have agreed never to have children

The rumor about Zendaya and Tom Holland started spreading online after an X post shared an alleged interview transcript. The post claimed that Zendaya was asked about having children with Tom Holland and shared her response.

The post included a question that allegedly came from a reporter: "Have you ever thought about having kids with your husband, Tom Holland?"

It then claimed Zendaya responded, "We both agreed never to have kids. Even though he got upset when I made it clear to him, he actually understood because my career comes first, and I am at the peak of my career right now and I don’t want anything or even kids to distract me."

The post also claimed the reporter asked, "So how do you think Tom will actually feel about this decision, even though he had no choice but to agree?"

It ended with another alleged response from Zendaya, "I think my happiness comes first no matter what, and he kind of knows that. Maybe we could adopt children when we are both older, toward the end of our careers, but for now, this is my decision, and I’m sure he’s going to get used to it."

Fact Check: False, the post is fabricated

The claim is false. The alleged interview exchange shared in the post is fabricated. Community notes and fact checks confirmed that the quotes and the interview never existed.

No credible publication, video, transcript, or recording supports the claim that Zendaya said she and Tom Holland "agreed never to have kids" because she wanted to prioritize her career.

The viral post claimed that Zendaya said Tom Holland was upset about the decision but would eventually accept it.

It also claimed that the couple might adopt children later in life. However, these statements do not come from any real interview. Fact checks and community notes on posts, including the one shared by @mercy_datgurl, confirmed that the quotes were made up.

In a 2024 interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said marriage and having children "are all things I want and I’m looking forward to; they just haven’t happened quite yet."

In 2024 profiles with Vogue and British Vogue, Zendaya discussed her mixed feelings about having children because of the challenges of fame.

She said she does not necessarily want her future children "to have to deal with" intense public attention and expressed a desire to create a more private family life. She has also described her nieces and nephews as her "borrowed children."
