According to a viral X post, Chris Evans has officially confirmed that Captain America, the iconic Marvel superhero played by him, will be making a final appearance in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which is set to release next year, bringing an end to the character after 16 long years.

The post drew more than two hundred thousand views as of this writing, triggering conflicting reactions from fans and netizens. Many appeared disappointed over the alleged announcement, while some also called for verification of the call and asked for proof.

Fact Check: The claim originated from a parody account

However, there is no official confirmation that supports the rumor; hence, the claim is rated as false.

The actor made no such announcement confirming that he will be appearing as Captain America for the last time. There are also no official statements, press reports, or social media posts from Marvel Studios or the makers of the film that support the rumor.

If the claim were true, it would not go unreported by prominent news and entertainment media outlets, given the popularity of ‘Avengers’ and ‘Captain America,’ triggering fan frenzy.

Moreover, the claim originated from an X account called ‘Chaos Crave,’ a parody account, which posts such exaggerated, clickbait claims for the sake of engagement.

The 41-year-old actor recently opened up about his highly anticipated return in the fifth installment of the 'Avengers' franchise, sharing how the experience brought a sense of nostalgia.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly at SDCC, Evans said, “It was almost like going back to 2011 on the first Avengers, because at the beginning of that, you're kind of the new kid on the block and you're excited to even be there."

"I would find myself during that movie watching. You're in the scene, but then you're just like, 'Robert Downey Jr is playing Tony Stark! I have a line.' And on this one, I felt that a little bit again, just watching you do this thing that I couldn't wait to see," he said.
