Fact Check: Is Elon Musk the person most eager person to visit Epstein’s island?
WASHINGTON, DC: Asking questions on AI chatbots like Grok have become increasingly popular on social media platform X, with many users turning to AI for quick answers instead of searching online. Recently, several users asked Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, who appeared most eager to visit Jeffrey Epstein's private island. Grok responded with one name: Elon Musk, referring to emails exchanged between Musk and Epstein. The response quickly attracted attention and raised questions about Musk's connection to Epstein. Let’s fact-check the claim.
Claim: Grok identifies Elon Musk as most eager to visit Jeffrey Epstein's private island
Hey @grok, concise, no spin Across all the released Epstein files, who seemed RELENTLESSLY, OBSESSIVELY DESPERATE to get onto Jeffrey Epstein’s island knowing he was a convicted pedophile in 2012? State full name only.

The discussion began when an X user named Rabbi Jeff asked Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, to identify the person who appeared most eager to visit Jeffrey Epstein's private island in 2012, despite knowing about Epstein's conviction for sex offences.
The user asked Grok to review the released Epstein files and provide only the person's full name, without additional explanation. Grok responded with a short answer: "Elon Musk."
Rabbi Jeff then shared a screenshot of the exchange, which quickly spread across X. The user later posted another update claiming that Grok had deleted its original response, writing, "This is so insane. They just manually deleted Grok's answer; go do a check yourself.
@RabbiJeffx @grok Wow I was just looking this post this morning and read with my own eyes that Elon was @grok's reply

Other X users also shared the screenshot and reacted to the reported deletion. One user reposted the image, writing, "Looks like the Grok response disappeared. For posterity…" Another user mocked the situation, suggesting that Elon Musk, who has described himself as a free-speech absolutist, might restrict Grok's responses after the incident.
The exchange sparked widespread discussion online about Grok's response, Musk's past email exchanges with Epstein and the chatbot's handling of sensitive questions.
Fact Check: The claim is partly true

The claim is partly true. Newly released US Department of Justice documents about Jeffrey Epstein show that Elon Musk exchanged emails with Epstein about possible visits to his private Caribbean island.
These emails raise questions about Musk's earlier statements that he had repeatedly refused Epstein's invitations. However, the documents do not prove that Musk ever visited the island.
The documents, released in January 2026, contain several email exchanges between Musk and Epstein. They discuss possible meetings, solar energy, sleep, helicopter rides, and social gatherings at Epstein's private island. In some messages, Musk asked about the "wildest party" and showed interest in visiting the island while he was nearby.
However, the released emails do not confirm that Musk actually travelled to the island or took part in any illegal activities. Musk has repeatedly denied visiting Epstein's island, attending his parties, or being involved in any wrongdoing.
After the documents became public, Musk responded on X, saying that he had very little communication with Epstein.
He also said that people could take his old emails out of context and use them to damage his reputation. At the same time, he highlighted his support for making the Epstein files public.
