The rumor that Erika Kirk plans to step down as CEO of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) surfaced online after X user Baron Coleman promoted a livestream about the claim.
Coleman said the livestream would discuss reports that Kirk plans to leave her role as CEO while remaining TPUSA’s chair.
Kirk, the widow of assassinated TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, became the organization’s CEO and chair in September 2025, following his wishes. The latest rumor comes nearly a year into her tenure, amid reports of criticism from some chapter leaders over whether the organization remains aligned with Charlie Kirk’s original vision.
She's a joke and needs to step down. The only people that want her to stay CEO are the ones that are benefiting from it. She's easy to fool bcuz she's dumb. They are all swimming in money right now with no adults in charge of TPUSA.

The claim quickly sparked speculation online. One user suggested, “Ben Shapiro is going to be the new CEO.” Another asked, “But who is replacing her?” A third commenter wrote, “So she’s really gonna try the ole Vance/Kirk ticket, eh? They literally tried pushing that DAYS after Charlie was killed. Started by Frank Turek, to be precise. Surely they have to know it will completely backfire on them?”
Another user criticized Kirk’s leadership, writing, “She's a joke and needs to step down. The only people that want her to stay CEO are the ones that are benefiting from it. She's easy to fool bcuz she's dumb. They are all swimming in money right now with no adults in charge of TPUSA.”
Fact Check: The claim is false
The claim is false. However, neither Erika Kirk nor Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has announced that she plans to step down as CEO.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed by Tyler Robinson on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a campus event in Utah. The shooting happened around 12:20 p.m. local time during a student Q&A at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, according to a statement from the university.
Before his death, Charlie had said that he wanted his wife, Erika, to lead TPUSA if he died. The organization appointed Erika as CEO and chair of the board shortly after his death.
In its announcement, TPUSA said Charlie had prepared the organization to face difficult times and had built it to survive major challenges. The group said it believed God had given its members the strength and resources needed to overcome the tragedy.
"As Charlie always said, ‘We have a country to save.’ We will not surrender or kneel before evil. We will carry on. The attempt to destroy Charlie’s work will become our chance to make it more powerful and enduring than ever before.”
