WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Bill Clinton gave a closed-door deposition to the Republican-led House Oversight Committee on Friday, February 27, as part of its ongoing investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. It followed a similar deposition of former First Lady Hillary Clinton on February 26.

Following this, an image went viral claiming to show the Clintons attending King Mohammed VI’s wedding in Morocco along with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Image shows the Clintons with Epstein, Maxwell, and others

On Friday, an X user came up with a post with the caption, "So in 2002, Chelsea Clinton attended King Mohammed VI’s wedding in Morocco with her father Bill Clinton, along with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. But we’re supposed to believe Hillary Clinton never met Epstein. LMAO! Okay!"

The post garnered more than 395,000 views, and more than 20,000 X users liked the post at the time of filing this story.

During his deposition, Bill Clinton repeatedly denied any knowledge of Epstein's criminal activities and said in his opening remarks, "I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong."

Moreover, he emphasized that he had no idea about Epstein's or Maxwell's crimes and ended contact with the disgraced financier well before Epstein's 2008 guilty plea.

Meanwhile, he acknowledged flying on Epstein's plane several times and socializing with Epstein and Maxwell, but insisted he "would have turned him in" if he had any suspicion.

Fact Check: True, image shared online is authentic

The photo shared by the X user is authentic and depicts the event as described in the post. It was taken at the wedding of Moroccan King Mohammed VI to Lalla Salma Bennani in Rabat, Morocco, on July 12-14, 2002.

The former POTUS, who was invited due to his earlier attendance at the funeral of the king's father in 1999, requested and received permission from Moroccan authorities to bring Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell as guests, surprising his own aides at the time. It must be noted that this occurred years before Epstein's 2008 conviction.

However, the X post further mentioned that Hillary Clinton's proximity to the group makes her denial implausible, but this is speculative and unsupported by facts. She was not present at the wedding and is not in the viral image.

The post accurately highlights Bill Clinton's documented ties to the disgraced financier, but extrapolates unsubstantiated doubt onto the former First Lady.
