Joe Biden’s limited public visibility may also be contributing to the speculation

WASHINGTON, DC: Amid ongoing concerns about former US President Joe Biden’s health, a claim that he has died is circulating on social media. These posts have sparked questions about his well-being, especially after his prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

However, viral claims about a public figure’s death require verification before they can be trusted. Let’s fact-check this claim and examine what is known about Biden’s health.

Claim: Joe Biden is no more

An X user named Mayank Bro shared a post that read, “BIG BREAKING 💔 Former US President Joe Biden is no more @grok Confirm this news !!” (@mayank bro)

It remains unclear where the rumor originated, but the claim has reportedly reached more than 5 million people, prompting confusion and concern over former US President Joe Biden’s alleged death.

An X user named Mayank Bro shared a post that read, “BIG BREAKING 💔 Former US President Joe Biden is no more @grok Confirm this news !!” The post urged Grok, the AI chatbot on X, to verify the claim.

The post drew mixed reactions from users, with some questioning the claim and others dismissing it as fake news. One user commented, “2026? He hasn't been around for years anymore,” while another asked Grok, “@grok Is this news true? Confirm the news!!!” A third user challenged the post’s credibility, writing, “Fake news!!!! We would be hearing this all from Fox News or anywhere else. Certainly not a fake account posting fake news for attention.”

The rumor comes amid continued public scrutiny of Biden’s age, health and reduced public appearances since leaving office. Biden’s limited public visibility may also be contributing to the speculation. An October 6 report by Fox News noted that he had made few political appearances in 2026 while dealing with advanced prostate cancer.

Fact Check: False

The claim is false. Joe Biden is alive as of October 20, 2026. No official announcement or credible news report confirms his death.

The X post shared by @mayank_br0 includes a manipulated image showing a black-and-white photograph of Biden with the dates “RIP 1942-2026.”

However, the image does not provide credible evidence of his death. No official statement, obituary or reliable news report supports the claim.

Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025 that had spread to his bones.

He has undergone hormone therapy and radiation treatment. In a September 2026 update, Biden said his radiation treatment had “worked as intended.” His family members, including his son Hunter Biden, have also publicly discussed the challenges associated with his illness. However, reports about his cancer diagnosis and treatment do not confirm the viral claim that he has died.

Similar death rumors about Biden have circulated online in the past, often amid concerns about his health and reduced public appearances.

However, these claims have not been supported by credible evidence. The viral post and its accompanying image should therefore be treated as misinformation.
