WASHINGTON, DC: After Karoline Leavitt left the White House as press secretary, a social media post claims Leavitt is suing CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins for saying terrible things about her husband and kids. The claim has sparked speculation, prompting a verification.

Claim: Karoline Leavitt is suing Kaitlan Collins

According to a viral X post, Leavitt told CNN that they’re lucky to still have a seat in the press room, and she is suing Kaitlan Collins for saying terrible things about her husband and kids.

The post further states that Leavitt defended her intent to sue Collins to the CNN reporter who replaced Collins in the White House Press Room.

“She said terrible things about my husband and children,” Leavitt allegedly said. “Quite frankly, you’re lucky we’re allowing your network to sit in the room at all.”

The post concluded by stating that Leavitt’s lawyers are filing for an amount in defamation and punitive damages for emotional distress that will “likely bankrupt her.”

The comments under the post suggest support for the outgoing Press Secretary, indicating that many believe the claim is true, while a few others question its authenticity.

Although Leavitt has clashed with Collins on several instances, there is no evidence that suggests that Leavitt has sued the CNN reporter. There are also no reports of Collins making terrible remarks about Leavitt’s husband and kids.

There are no credible reports, announcements, or official statements from Leavitt announcing a lawsuit against Collins; hence, the claim is rated as false.

If the claim were true, prominent news media outlets would have widely covered it, but a search on Google for the claim yielded no such reports.

The claim surfaced after Leavitt said goodbye to her role in the White House and stated that her departure was because her two young children need their mother home more, who are 2 years old and 4 months old, while she plans to remain as an outside adviser.

“They’re just at a critical time in their life where they need their mom home a little bit more,” she said.

Before leaving, Leavitt praised President Donald Trump, saying, “There will never be another like him.” “It’s been the honor and blessing of a lifetime to work for this president, President Trump,” she said.
