'More popular than Lincoln': Trump backs CNN anchor, declares networks in 'death spiral'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, who frequently clashes with media networks over critical reports, has once again lashed out at two major news outlets while hailing a CNN anchor for his “credibility.”

In a social media post on Saturday, August 29, Trump criticized CNN and MS NOW, claiming both networks are in a "death spiral" with low viewership.

Writing a Truth Social post early Saturday, Trump claimed that nobody is watching CNN and MS NOW, adding that MS NOW cannot be saved while CNN could still turn things around by replacing its leadership and anchors.

However, Trump singled out CNN's chief data analyst Harry Enten, arguing that he has “credibility,” adding that Enten is the only one who dared to say that the current president is more popular than Abraham Lincoln.

“CNN is in a DEATH SPIRAL, and so is MSNOW, the new name for MSDNC — Literally, nobody is watching either Network,” Trump began his Truth Social post.

Later in the same post, Trump added, “CNN can be turned around with new Leadership and Anchors (MSNOW cannot!), because a Great Brand can never truly be destroyed.”

Highlighting the “credibility” of Harry Enten, Trump said, “The best person on CNN is Pollster Harry Enten, because he was willing to show that Donald J Trump is six times more popular than Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or any other President — He’s got Credibility.”

He humorously added, "Don't fire him.”

Trump calls himself the 'greatest' president

Trump’s post on Harry Enten and media networks came only two days after a Truth Social post where he categorized himself as “The greatest,” as he shared a ranking of American presidents, listing himself on top of the heap.

The list put Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson, as merely “Great.”

The following day, the president shared a new graphic that places the 40th president (Ronald Reagan) with himself, Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson as the “five who built America.”

Enten, who shares numerous polls showing Trump’s troubles with voters and recent dismal approval ratings, had declared one recent survey a “reality check” on the president’s popularity.

“This is a reality check for you. That is, Donald Trump is still the sun on which the planets of the GOP revolve around. You could see it quite well here,” Enten told CNN’s John Berman.
