The claim sparked mixed reactions and speculation, with many calling for a fact-check.

According to the viral claim, Sweeney is converting to Judaism and moving to Israel. 

The claim surfaced after the actress was spotted attending Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah services at Temple Sholom on September 12 with her Jewish boyfriend, Scooter Braun.

The claim has spread on multiple social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, garnering millions of views. It has even been reported in a few celebrity gossip and entertainment media outlets.

While many accused the actress of being complicit in Israel's actions against Palestine, many applauded her for the move, indicating that they believe the claim is true.

Meanwhile, a few others remain skeptical and question the authenticity of the rumor.

Fact Check: No official confirmation from Sydney Sweeney

The claim, however, is false, as there is no official confirmation from the couple about converting to Judaism or moving to Israel.

Although there are several media houses in the United States and Israel reporting on the claim, there are no publicly available statements, remarks, official announcements, interviews, or social media posts from the 29-year-old actress suggesting that she has started the official conversion process.

Also, attending a religious service does not establish someone's faith, personal beliefs, or intention to begin a conversion process. 

A search on Google for the claim revealed that the earliest version of the claim came from accounts on X, which describe themselves as satire or parody.

Hence, the claim likely originated as satire, although it is unclear where the rumor originated.

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun's relationship

The couple was first publicly linked after appearing together at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding celebrations in Venice in June 2025. Although they have not publicly announced an engagement, wedding date, or plans for marriage, they are perceived to be in a relationship.

Braun wished Sweeney a happy 29th birthday on September 12 with a message describing her as “the woman who is the exception to every rule” and also wrote that she had made “the future feel like something I can't wait to get to.”
