Scooter Braun has surprising reaction as Taylor Swift reclaims her masters, full control over her music

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift has officially regained control over the master recordings of her first six albums, ending a long-standing battle with music executive Scooter Braun.
The pop icon shared the news on Friday, May 30, with an emotional statement, calling the moment “my greatest dream come true.”
Scooter Braun reacts to Taylor Swift buying back her masters

In response, Braun, who had previously acquired Swift’s masters through his company Ithaca Holdings back in 2019, offered a succinct reaction. “I am happy for her,” he told The Independent in a five-word statement, signaling a rare public acknowledgment after years of tension between the two.
The feud ignited when Braun’s acquisition of Big Machine Records handed him control of Swift’s early music, a move she condemned as “manipulative bullying.”
Frustrated by the inability to purchase the masters outright, Swift launched a bold plan to re-record her catalog, releasing updated versions of 'Fearless', 'Red', 'Speak Now', and '1989' dubbed “Taylor’s Version.”
Back in 2020, Braun sold the master recordings to Shamrock Capital for more than $300 million. Swift voiced her frustration, saying, “This was the second time my music had been sold without my knowledge.”
A source involved in the contract talks told People on Friday that the deal came together “in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
“Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who ‘encouraged’ this sale,” the source said. “All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s Nashville-based management team only. Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
Taylor Swift successfully buys back her master recordings

This latest purchase finally secured full rights to her original masters, including unreleased songs, music videos, and concert films.
On her website, Swift opened up about how regaining ownership of her music once felt like an impossible dream. “To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,” she wrote, adding, “I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.”
“I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,” Swift added, saying, “But that's all in the past now.”
“I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening,” Swift shared. “I really get to say these words. All of the music I’ve ever made... now belongs... to me. And all my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era.”

Swift confirmed the news earlier in the day with a post on Instagram featuring herself surrounded by vinyl copies of her re-recorded albums, including 'Fearless (Taylor’s Version)' and 'Red (Taylor’s Version)'. Clad in a pastel top and jeans, Swift posed on the studio floor, her iconic red lipstick in full display.
“You belong with me,” she captioned the carousel, a clever nod to her 2008 hit.
Internet mocks Scooter Braun’s calm reaction as Taylor Swift secures her master recordings

Taylor Swift reclaiming her master recordings has sparked widespread celebration among fans and sharp mockery aimed at Scooter Braun, whose notably subdued reaction has many calling out the irony and hypocrisy behind his words.
Braun, who originally acquired and later sold Swift’s masters without her consent, made headlines again after publicly congratulating the singer on her achievement. But the internet wasn’t buying the sentiment.

One user wrote, “Wait is he the one that sold them to begin with??”

Another user didn’t hold back, “He literally underestimated just who he was stealing from.”
Comparisons got biblical, as one quipped, “This is like the devil congratulating God on creating Earth.”
Many pointed out the audacity of Braun’s sudden support, “Yeah he’s happy for her now but that issue was because of him.”
“Happy for her? As if he didn’t cause the issue in the first place? Oh, I’m disgusted more and more every day,” another added.

Mockery continued with another user commenting, “If it’s one thing that unites me with the Swifties, it’s our hatred for this man... like shut up you're not happy for her, you loser.”
