WASHINGTON, DC: Questions around the identity and background of the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting have triggered widespread online speculation.

Authorities confirmed on Saturday, April 25, that a suspect was taken into custody after gunfire caused panic at the Washington Hilton, where President Donald Trump and other officials were present.

In the hours after the incident, social media platforms were flooded with claims about the alleged shooter’s personal and professional history. Among the most widely circulated claims is that the suspect, identified in some posts as Cole Tomas Allen, previously worked as a teacher at C2 Education.

Claim: Cole Tomas Allen worked as a teacher at C2 Education

Posts circulating online claimed that the suspect in the shooting, identified by Fox News journalist Karol Markowicz as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, had been employed as a part-time teacher at C2 Education.

Screenshots allegedly linked to Allen’s profile suggest he worked at the tutoring organisation for several years.

Other viral posts also claimed he was recognised as “Teacher of the Month” at a centre in Torrance.

Additional posts circulating online also referenced a LinkedIn profile allegedly linking Allen to an internship at NASA in 2014 and graduation from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

These claims spread rapidly online, fueling public curiosity about the suspect’s background.

Fact Check: No verified evidence confirms employment claims

At this stage, there is no confirmed evidence that Cole Tomas Allen worked at C2 Education or held any teaching position.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the suspect’s identity or released details about his employment history.

The name “Cole Tomas Allen” itself has not been verified by law enforcement.

C2 Education has also not issued any statement confirming or denying the viral claims.

The screenshots, social media posts, and profiles being shared online have not been independently verified.

This means claims about employment, awards, and academic background remain unproven.
