MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Since authorities identified Renee Nicole Good as the woman killed in the January 7 ICE shooting in Minneapolis, several unverified claims about her have spread widely online.

Users circulated fake arrest records, child abuse accusations against Good, and other misleading posts that have since been debunked. The newest unverified claim to go viral suggests she was pregnant at the time of the shooting in Minnesota.

What is the unverified claim about Renee Good?

After the death of 37-year-old mother and poet Renee Nicole Good, false claims have started circulating online that she was pregnant at the time of the shooting in Minnesota. Good, a mother of three, was shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross during a protest in Minneapolis.

The Department of Homeland Security says she tried to use her car as a weapon against the agents, which led Ross to shoot her. Minnesota state officials are calling for an investigation into the agent’s actions.

The claim that Renee Nicole Good was pregnant stems from a widely shared photo of her that has been altered online to make it look like she is expecting.

Amid the chaos surrounding her death, one social media post claimed she was “pregnant with the child she dropped off at school 6 years later on the day an ICE agent shot her in the face 3 times,” and included a photo of Good holding her stomach in a maternity gown by the seashore.

One more x post claimed, "It just came out that Renee was pregnant (four weeks along) when Johnathan shot her in the face three times. :))))) how’s the pro life MAGA community feeling? Y’all just celebrated the death of an “unborn child”"

Fact Check: Renee Good was not pregnant

There are no reports or evidence showing that Renee Nicole Good was pregnant when she was fatally shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross.

A photo of her in a maternity gown does exist, but it was taken in 2020 when she was expecting her now‑6‑year‑old child, not at the time of the shooting. If she had been pregnant when she died, her family and officials would likely have mentioned it in public statements, and credible news outlets would have reported it, but they haven’t.

This shows that the claim about her being pregnant at the time of the shooting is false. Recently, Good’s family also pushed back against viral false claims that she had a criminal history.

In a statement shared by her sister‑in‑law, Morgan Fletcher, the family said they are grieving deeply and have seen many posts online, some supportive, others harmful and misleading. Fletcher pointed out that rumors about Good’s criminal past are untrue, and she emphasized how much the attacks have hurt the family while they mourn.
