NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sen. John Fetterman, speaking on Fox News, threw his support behind US strikes on Iran and praised President Donald Trump as “willing to do what’s right and necessary to produce real peace in the region.”

Fetterman first voiced his backing on X before reiterating it in the conversation, aligning himself firmly with the administration’s military action.

Fetterman calls strikes 'necessary action'

During the interview, Fetterman defended the strikes as a necessary step toward long-term stability.

“To actually create real peace, you have to do these kinds of actions just like happened, just like last year, too, when they, to destroy their nuclear facilities,” Fetterman said.

“You know, sometimes peace is possible after these kinds of steps, and that's why I support those things.”

He added, “And I'm proud to stand with our military and Israel through this. And that was the right thing.”

The Fox News anchor noted that Fetterman had posted on X earlier writing: “Operation Epic Fury, President Trump has been willing to do what's right and necessary to produce real peace in the region. God bless the United States, our great military, and Israel.”

When asked about criticism from Rep. Thomas Massie, who described the strikes as “acts of war unauthorized by Congress,” Fetterman dismissed the pushback. “No, that's bizarre, I'd like to remind my colleague over in the House that Iran massacred 30,000 of their own people!” he responded.

US- Israel Operation targets Iranian sites

According to Fox News, the US was not targeting Iran’s leadership, Israel was. Strikes reportedly hit the compound home of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in downtown Tehran.

Trump later released a video statement on social media urging the Iranian people to “get out of the way for now,” adding, “when we are finished, take over your government; it will be yours to take.”

Addressing the Iranian people, Trump said, “Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let's see how you respond.”

He added, “America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force.”

Trump also urged the Iranian military to lay down their weapons and noted that the strikes specifically targeted Iran amid its attempts to rebuild its nuclear program.

Fox News also reported that United States used new capabilities like one-way attack drones to target Iran.
