Finn Wolfhard recalls hilarious moment when he got mistaken for Timothee Chalamet in NYC

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Finn Wolfhard recently shared a humorous encounter where he was mistaken for Timothee Chalamet while in New York City.

The 21-year-old 'Stranger Things' star reflected on the incident during a promotion for his Great Ghost Search campaign with Ring.

Finn Wolfhard mistaken for Timothee Chalamet during Uber mix-up

According to the US Weekly, Finn Wolfhard recounted a time in SoHo when he and his friends mistakenly entered an Uber that was actually meant for another group. “When I was in SoHo one time getting into an Uber with some friends, someone else had called an Uber to the same location and it was the same car, so we thought this was our Uber,” he explained to the outlet.

“As we’re getting in, this other group went into the car, and we were like, ‘Oh, sorry that’s your Uber'. And then one of them looked at me, and he recognized me, and his eyes went wide.”

The unexpected twist came when one of the other passengers recognized him, but instead of identifying him as Finn Wolfhard, he exclaimed, “Oh, my God. You’re Timothee Chalamet!” Wolfhard found the mix-up amusing. “I just started laughing with my friends, like, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy that that just happened',” he said. “It was very funny. I was relieved. I was like, ‘Yes I am!’ It was really funny.”

Both Wolfhard and Chalamet share notable physical similarities: they stand just under 6 feet tall, have long, dark, curly hair, and a fair complexion. However, the resemblance was amplified in the vibrant streets of New York City, where Chalamet, a native, is often recognized.

Lookalike contest celebrates Timothee Chalamet doppelgangers

Finn Wolfhard isn't the only one experiencing this resemblance. On October 27, a massive lookalike contest for Timothee Chalamet doppelgangers took place in Washington Square Park, attracting fans and impersonators alike.

Anthony Po, a YouTuber who organized the event, expressed his admiration for Chalamet: “Honestly, I’m a big Timothee Chalamet fan. I think the way he moves through the space is really smart, as an influencer myself.”

After Chalamet surprised his fans at his own lookalike contest by making an unexpected appearance, the crowd became untenable, and Po received a $500 fine for not having a permit. He wasn’t deterred, however; he simply led the crowd to an alternate location at Mercer Playground to crown the winner, a 21-year-old named Miles Mitchell who dazzled in a Wonka-themed outfit.

Many of the lookalikes at the event mentioned Wolfhard, noting that they are often stopped on the street for their resemblance to either actor.
