NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the importance of the United States standing by their ally Israel in times of conflict in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, April 14.

Before facing drone attacks by Iran on April 13, Israel was already battling mounting international pressure over its role in the creation of a humanitarian crisis in Gaza in retaliation to the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.

The House Majority leader had long advocated for the unflinching support of the ally nation but has not managed to pass the foreign aid bill in Congress, drawing flack from both sides of the aisle in the Capitol.

Speaker Mike Johnson's tweet

Johnson shared a video clip from his interview on Fox News over the social media platform, where he says, "We showed resolve ... to stand with our ally Israel. It's greatly important to do that... What's important right now is that we stand with Israel. We should not be dictating to them what their policy is, we certainly shouldn't be doing what Chuck Schumer did trying to suggest they should have a new election in this critical time."

"They're fighting for their very existence, and it's never been more important for us to be there with them. We are resolved to do that and I hope that continues," he adds.

Along with the clip, Johnson reiterated his points in the post, writing, "It's critically important that we stand with our ally, Israel. We should not be dictating their strategy or calling for new elections. They're fighting for their very existence, and it's never been more important for us to stand with them."

Internet reacts to Mike Johnson's tweet

"You’ve been blocking aid for months. Bring the senate passed bill to the floor," stated a user responding to the Speaker's post on X.

"Imagine having a bill on your desk that would do just that…yet you do nothing. Sit down, Moscow Moses!" exclaimed another.

"Not another cent to another country. America is in shambles! Fix our country first!" demanded a third.

"You are irrelevant, you Mike Johnson betrayed the American people. You are a liar and there is no truth in you," jibed a fourth.

"Moscow Mike suddenly wants to help Israel when he has shelved all foreign aid for months! Pathetic," slammed a fifth.

"We should not be giving money to any other nation. Fix the problems here. Israel is a dependent at best," commented a sixth user.
