WASHINGTON, DC: A "full-blown battle" for the soul of the Democratic Party is reportedly brewing, as a wave of "far-left" candidates - emboldened by the victory of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani in New York City - has surged in key House primaries across the country.

Progressive candidates are allegedly pushing back against the Democratic establishment, putting the party's ability to appeal to moderate voters to the test in must-win districts.

The rise of these "Mamdani-style" politicians has prompted Republican strategists to warn that the "socialist stampede is winning," creating a fissure that could hand the House to the GOP.

Mike Marinella claims Democrats aren’t 'helping working families'

Mike Marinella, national press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), didn't mince words about the internal chaos allegedly consuming the opposition.

"Democrats aren’t focused on helping working families, they’re too busy tearing each other apart," Marinella told Fox News Digital.

He characterized the surge of progressive challengers as a "full-blown battle for the soul of the Democrat Party," concluding that the "socialist stampede is winning."

This leftward lurch is reportedly exemplified by candidates like Randy Villegas in California’s 22nd District. Endorsed by self-described "democratic socialist" Bernie Sanders, Villegas has hired the same ad firm that helped Mamdani cruise to victory in NYC.

"Bernie and I share the same goal," Villegas declared, signaling a clear alignment with the party's most liberal wing rather than centrist leadership.

The socialist branding is not limited to California.

In Michigan, William Lawrence - a co-founder of the radical Sunrise Movement - is running for the 7th Congressional District with a campaign reportedly compared to Mamdani's by local media.

Similarly, in New York’s 17th District, Peter Chatzky is challenging GOP Rep Mike Lawler while praising Mamdani's "effective campaign" and calling for "universal healthcare."

Chatzky has even called for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down, demonstrating that no establishment figure is allegedly immune to the new wave.

Meanwhile, Colorado State Representative Manny Rutinel has reportedly been spotted alongside Mamdani and is backed by "far-left" groups like the Working Families Party, further cementing the link between the NYC mayor-elect and the national House map.

Facing attacks on their left flank and a unified GOP, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) lashed out at President Donald Trump's recent strategy.

DCCC spokesperson Viet Shelton claimed that Republicans are "melting down" because they can't win on affordability issues.

"Even President Trump is in the Oval Office desperately bear hugging the mayor-elect. It’s embarrassing," Shelton said, referring to the president's meeting with Mamdani earlier this week.
