Grief and mourning fill San Diego after deadly mosque shooting leaves 3 dead
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: Shockwaves went through the close-knit community of San Diego on Monday, May 18, after two teenage shooters opened fire at a complex housing a mosque and an Islamic school. Emotions ran deep in the aftermath of the deadly shooting that killed three people, including a courageous guard who “ran toward gunfire without asking questions.” The shooting took place at around 11:43 am when police received reports of an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego. The center asked the public to keep the victims in their prayers, calling today's shooting "an extremely painful and traumatic day for our congregation, students, staff, and the broader San Diego community."
