Kate Middleton revives Princess Diana's 1987 look featuring young Prince William at Trooping the Colour 2026

Kate Middleton paid a fashion homage to Princess Diana as she attended Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 13. Her baby blue coatdress with a matching hat for the event was almost similar to the late princess' 1987 Easter dress, which she donned with a white undershirt and a pair of matching white gloves.

For the 1987 Easter ceremony, a young Prince William twinned his outfit with his mother. The mother-son duo wore a matching light blue coatdress by Catherine Walker. The late royal also added a light blue hat with a white band and a pair of white heels to complete her look.

Kate Middleton's chic look involved a matching hat by Philip Treacy and a pair of pearl Cassandra Goad earrings. The mother-of-three was also seen wearing her Irish Guards Brooch, which represented her role as an honorary Colonel.

Kate Middleton was seen waving at the royal fans alongside her son, Prince Louis, as she channeled Princess Diana and a then-young Prince William. As per Bethan Holt, Fashion News and Features Director of The Daily Telegraph, "I think we have seen lots of examples where the reference is very intentional, and I think that Kate uses fashion to pay tribute to Diana in a very positive way."
