Kate Middleton wears rare Queen Mother necklace for surprise reunion with Tom Cruise at 'Digger' premiere

Kate Middleton was a vision at the world premiere of 'Digger' as she shined in the Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, featuring pearls, diamonds and amethysts. The mother-of-three further added a pair of pearl drop earrings, which also hold great value, as they earlier belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. The Princess of Wales was accompanied by her husband, Prince William, at the event.

The September 22 'Digger' premiere at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London also marked Kate Middleton and Prince William's official red carpet reunion with Tom Cruise after a gap of four years. The royal couple last met the Hollywood icon at the London premiere of 'Top Gun: Maverick' in 2022.

Kate Middleton's necklace holds great significance for the royal family as it was passed down through generations. It was first given to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the future Queen Mother, by Queen Alexandra as a wedding gift in 1923.
Queen Camilla had also wore it once in 2012. At the time, she was the Duchess of Cornwall and donned the necklace for the premiere of 'Skyfall.' The rare heirloom mostly remains concealed inside the royal vault, only making rare and occasional appearances with current members of the royal family.

Kate Middleton and Prince William happily posed for photos with Tom Cruise and former football star David Beckham at the 'Digger' premiere. The beloved royal couple stood between the actor and Beckham. While the men wore formal tuxedos, the future Queen of England looked stunning in a purple Jenny Packham gown.

Tom Cruise's association with the British royal family is not something new. He shares close bond with them for decades. In 1992, he and his then-wife Nicole Kidman had an interaction with Princess Diana at the premiere of their film, 'Far and Away'. Cruise and Kidman also paid their respects to Diana after her death at her funeral at Westminster Abbey. Similarly, Kate Middleton and Prince William supported Cruise at the London premiere of 'Top Gun: Maverick' and further reinstated their support by attending the recent 'Digger' premiere.
