Mariska Hargitay makes rare red carpet appearance with all three children at the 78th Emmy Awards

Hargitay was a proud wife and mother as she appeared on the 78th Emmys red carpet with her husband, Peter Hermann, 59, and their three children, August, 18, Amaya, 15, and Andrew, 13. The ‘Law & Order: SVU’ star wore a matching red dress with her daughter, Amaya, while Hermann and the boys kept it formal in black-and-white tuxedos.

The 62-year-old actress wore a deep red sequined dress with a mermaid-style fringed long train, matching her daughter Amaya, who wore the exact same outfit sans the train. Hargitay paired her outfit with red high heels and completed her look with neutral makeup. She kept her blonde neck-length hair open in waves, and opted for minimal jewelry, including a bracelet and earrings. Hargitay and Amaya’s matching outfit stole the show, becoming one of the most highlighted moments of the red carpet.

Similar to last week’s Creative Emmy Awards event, Hargitay’s husband once again stood beside her as the actress arrived at the Primetime Emmys red carpet. The couple, who have been married since 2004, looked stunning as they posed for the cameras. Nearly a week ago, the actress highlighted her husband’s support as she took to Instagram to share a photo of Hermann making victory signs behind her while she posed with her two Emmys. “God I love him,” she captioned the post at the time.

Hargitay and Hermann welcomed their eldest child, son August, in 2006. The couple went on to adopt their daughter Amaya in 2011. They also adopted their youngest son, Andrew, in 2011, just six months after Amaya. Speaking to People Magazine in 2018, Hargitay shared, “The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids. Because they taught me to really listen. My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers.”

The 78th Emmy Awards was particularly significant for Hargitay, who has earned a total of eight nominations for her lead role on ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ winning in 2006, as she took home two golden statues this year, for her work in the HBO documentary, ‘My Mom Jayne,’ about her late mother Jayne Mansfield. The actress also made history as the first woman to emcee the Emmys solo in 15 years.
