Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka turn into infamous Grady twins from 'The Shining' for Halloween 2026

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka's Halloween looks were spooky enough to haunt people for days. The couple channeled the infamous Grady twins from the 1980 psychological horror film, 'The Shining,' starring Jack Nicholson in the lead role. The movie featured real-life identical twins, Lisa and Louise Burns, as the ghostly sisters.

The 'How I Met Your Mother' star and his husband wore matching dresses to bring back the Grady twins for their 2026 Halloween looks. The duo donned identical powder-blue baby doll dresses, featuring rounded collars, pleated skirts, and ruffled hemlines, resembling the outfit worn by the murdered Grady daughters from Kubrick's 1980 horror classic. Their dresses also included satin pink floral ribbons. To complete their haunted looks, the actors also added white knee-high socks and black Mary Jane shoes.

To create a realistic look, Harris and Burtka both wore ghostly pale skin makeup and white spooky contact lenses. They were also seen sporting subtle blood splatters across their outfits. The couple successfully managed to bring the Grady sisters to life with their head-turning cosplay. In Kubrick's 'The Shining', based on Stephen King's 1977 novel of the same name, the ghost twins were killed by their father and haunted the Overlook Hotel.

While Heidi Klum made headlines by turning into a replica of her left hand for 'Heidiween' 2026, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka also managed to hold their own. The couple stole the show at Klum's 25th Annual Halloween Party, looking nearly unrecognizable in their transformation into the twins from 'The Shining,'

Harris, 53, and Burtka, 51, made their joint Halloween party appearance over a month after celebrating 12 years of their marriage in September. The duo became friends after first meeting each other in 2004 and eventually fell in love before exchanging vows in September 2014. Taking to Instagram, Harris shared, "12 years ago today. David, thanks for saying ‘I do’. I’m forever grateful that you did."
