'The Odyssey' gets FIFA twist as Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and other stars sport custom character jerseys

Zendaya, who plays Athena in ‘The Odyssey,’ looked every bit a Greek goddess as she posed with her number 10 Athena jersey. Taking method dressing to another level, the actress wore an all-white Jacquemus gown paired with a matching headscarf and shield-inspired earrings from Baron London, crafted using actual 1st-millennium BC ancient discs.

Pattinson, who is collaborating with Nolan for the second time following 2020’s ‘Tenet,’ was all smiles as he held up the number 7 jersey for Antinous, the principal antagonist of ‘The Odyssey’ and one of Queen Penelope’s (Anne Hathaway) most violent suitors. For the promotional event, the actor wore a stylish Visvim ensemble featuring a camel-colored zip-up jacket with a contrasting dark brown collar layered over an olive green button-up shirt, paired with dark blue wide-leg trousers.

Holland, who plays Telemachus, the Prince of Ithaca and Odysseus’ son, joined Lupita Nyong’o, who takes on the dual roles of Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, for a playful photo with their respective jerseys. Nyong’o held the number 5 jersey for Helen, while Holland posed with the number 10 jersey for Telemachus. Holland wore a Prada look consisting of a dark brown leather jacket layered over a vibrant olive-green button-up shirt with light-wash straight-leg jeans. Meanwhile, Nyong’o opted for a monochrome Chanel RE27 ensemble featuring a sleeveless, asymmetrical midi dress with a deep V-neckline.

Morton, who is said to have received the first standing ovation from a Christopher Nolan cast and crew since Heath Ledger on ‘The Dark Knight’ during a screening of ‘The Odyssey,’ appeared to cheer for her character, the Greek goddess and sorceress Circe, with a number 8 jersey. For the London photocall, Morton wore a floor-length satin-like light brown gown with a subtle sheen from McQueen PF26.

Safdie, who previously worked with Nolan on the 2023 hit ‘Oppenheimer,’ plays Agamemnon, the tragic King of Mycenae and commander of the Greek forces at Troy, in ‘The Odyssey.’ He proudly displayed his character’s number 14 jersey while posing for photographers. The actor-director opted for a monochromatic look consisting of a black short-sleeve camp-collar shirt adorned with white floral embroidered motifs, layered over a plain white crew-neck T-shirt and paired with relaxed-fit black trousers.

Leguizamo, who plays Eumaeus, Odysseus’ loyal servant and visually challenged swineherd, appeared in high spirits as he showed off his number 4 character jersey. For the London photocall, the actor stepped out in a light grey linen suit, styling it with a fitted heather grey crew-neck T-shirt and matching straight-leg trousers. Leguizamo completed his smart-casual look with dark brown leather sneakers and black sunglasses.

Patel, who also worked with Nolan on ‘Tenet,’ plays Eurylochus, Odysseus’ second-in-command and brother-in-law, in ‘The Odyssey.’ The actor proudly held up his character’s number 26 jersey as he posed for the cameras. For the event, Patel wore a sleek all-black monochromatic ensemble comprising a black zip-front jacket layered over a simple black crew-neck T-shirt and tailored black straight-leg trousers. He completed the refined look with polished black leather shoes and a thin chain necklace.
