Travis Scott steps out for 'The Odyssey' New York premiere as lawsuit over alleged yacht fight unfolds

Travis Scott was all smiles at the star-studded premiere of 'The Odyssey,' a $250 million fantasy-action epic inspired by Homer's ancient Greek poem. The blockbuster was filmed entirely with IMAX cameras and features an ensemble cast portraying iconic mythological figures. It also incorporates the nonlinear storytelling and fast-paced narrative style that director Christopher Nolan is known for.

Travis Scott opted for a sharp, understated look in a charcoal double-breasted suit layered over a crisp white dress shirt and slim black tie. He accessorized with narrow black sunglasses, diamond stud earrings, and neatly braided hair, while flashing a broad smile as he posed on the red carpet. Completing the ensemble, Scott debuted an unreleased pair of collaborative Nike sneakers inspired by the iconic 1972 Nike Moon Shoe. The design featured a washed black leather upper, shaggy suede panels, deep burgundy overlays, and his signature reversed Swoosh. The sneakers marked another chapter in his long-running partnership with Nike, which began in 2017 with the brand's AF100 project and his first Air Force 1 collaboration.

Travis Scott's appearance at the premiere comes as the rapper faces a civil lawsuit over an alleged altercation aboard a chartered yacht in Miami in June 2024. Although he was arrested at the time for disorderly intoxication and trespassing, no criminal charges were ultimately filed. The lawsuit, brought by the yacht's captain and charter management company, alleges Scott assaulted and threatened crew members after renting the 105-foot 'Carpe Diem' for a cruise along Miami's coast with three female guests.

The newly filed complaint claims Travis Scott ordered the yacht captain to head to a nearby marina before suddenly jumping off the vessel onto a dock, leaving his guests stranded on board for about 30 minutes. When he returned, the captain alleges Scott was angry and confrontational, prompting him to end the charter and ask everyone to disembark. According to the lawsuit, the situation then turned physical. The complaint further alleges that Scott fired a security guard who tried to de-escalate the situation before assaulting multiple marina workers who rushed to help. One crew member was allegedly knocked into a table after Scott charged toward the group, causing her injuries.

Travis Scott makes his big-screen acting debut in 'The Odyssey,' portraying a bard who entertains rowdy suitors and soldiers in Ithaca by singing and rhythmically recounting Odysseus' legendary exploits, including the fall of Troy. The role serves as a thematic nod to the oral storytelling tradition of Homer's epic, with Christopher Nolan drawing parallels between ancient Greek bards and modern rap artists. Scott, who previously contributed the track 'The Plan to Tenet,' also recorded an original song for the movie's end credits.
