ATHENS, GEORGIA: Glen Powell was booed by football fans at a Georgia Bulldogs game when he went on the field at halftime dressed as Chad Powers, the lead in an upcoming television series of the same name, on Saturday, October 12, reported Brobible.

As Glen Powell led his football team dressed in blue and yellow uniform onto the field, he was greeted with loud boos by the people present at the Sanford Stadium in Athens.

Glen Powell films Hulu series at Sanford Stadium

During halftime, Glen Powell went out on the field with his team, representing a school with an acronym 'SG'. In character as Chad Powers, Powell was dressed in football gear.

The team's primary colors seemed to be blue and yellow. Their opponent team was apparently Georgia, hence the booing.

The actor was photographed on set last month sporting a bleached blonde mullet, along with an Oregon Ducks uniform with a Rose Bowl patch. It was indicative of scenes showing the origin arc of his character.

When Powell reached the Sanford Stadium on Saturday to shoot for the 'Chad Powers' series, he surely did not get a very warm welcome from the crowd. But here's the catch.

The 92,00 Georgia fans present at the stadium were asked to stay back during the break and make Powell's character feel unwelcome for the scene where he leads the fictional college football team onto the field.

The entire incident was planned in advance. The people in the stadium were asked to boo thrice by the announcer, shared a person on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), and the crowd gladly rose to the challenge.

Meanwhile, in the real game on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Mississippi Bulldogs 41 to 31.

The plot of 'Chad Powers'

'Chad Powers' is a comedy series being produced by Hulu that is loosely based on Eli Manning’s prank at Penn State in 2022.

A two-time Super Bowl champion, Manning had disguised himself as a walk-on named Chad Powers and crashed an open tryout. While head coach James Franklin was in on the joke, everyone else was stunned by "Chad's" skills.

The series is considered to be an extension of the prank, roping in Hollywood star Powell to step in Manning's shoes. Manning offered to give pointers to Powell, who plays a disgraced college quarterback, Russ Holiday.

The story follows Holliday as he fails to make it in his first school, and decides to take on the disguise of Chad Powers and dive into a struggling college football program in the South.
