Glen Powell’s stunning transformation in ‘Chad Powers’ sparks comparisons to Tom Cruise and Owen Wilson

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Glen Powell has started resembling Tom Cruise, Owen Wilson, and David Arquette!

While this may initially sound preposterous, one look at the first teaser of the Hulu comedy series ‘Chad Powers’ is enough to remove all confusion. 

Recently, Hulu released the first look of the comedy series, which was subsequently shared on Instagram by ESPN and the ‘Hit Man’ star. 

Seeing the show's first look, the fans quickly compared the ‘Twisters’ star with his ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ co-star Tom Cruise. 

Apart from Cruise, Powell was also compared to the ‘Scream’ sensation David Arquette and the ‘Zoolander’ star Owen Wilson.

Glen Powell looks unrecognizable in ‘Chad Powers’ first look

After Hulu released the first look of the comedy series, Glen Powell’s noticeable transformation created quite a rustle on the internet. 

Powell donned a wig, mustache, and prosthetics to slip into the character of Chad Powers which almost left him unrecognizable.

For the show, Powell is essaying the role of Russ Holliday, a former college quarterback resorting to a new identity after blowing up his football career through misbehavior. Holliday takes the identity of affable Chad Powers and joins a struggling team to revive his career. 

Per People, the show’s description says, "When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday's college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”

The show is loosely inspired by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning’s character of the same name for his ESPN docuseries ‘Eli’s Places.’ In the docuseries, Manning was shown to go undercover during the football tryouts of Penn State.

Per Toofab, Powell is co-creating and co-writing the pilot with Michael Waldron, in addition to starring in the show. Both Powell and Waldron are serving as executive producers. The show's trailer has yet to be released.

The internet went berserk when Glen Powell's tremendous transformation for his Chad Powers role was revealed. As the first look of the comedy show came out, Powell was compared not only to Tom Cruise but also to Owen Wilson and David Arquette. 

One of the social media users hilariously quipped, "If Owen Wilson and David Arquette had a baby …."

"Man that’s Tom Cruise," exclaimed another seeing his Powell's mindblowing transformation.

Another fan chimed in, "Thought this was Tom cruise lmao."

"He's not even recognizable as Glen, that's not fair 😭😭," added someone else. 

Meanwhile, another fan applauded the makeup team, saying, "Hats off to the special effects and makeup team for transforming a gorgeous man into a normal person 😂."

"He looks like a Tom cruise variant," chimed in another, still struck by the similarity between the two 'Top Gun: Maverick' actors. 

"Tom Cruise is doing anything sporty," said someone else.

Another fan confessed, nonetheless, "I honestly thought that was Tom Cruise 💀😂."

"Jump scare on that first photo thought it was Owen Wilson 😂," said another.

"When they can transform this man into this, you can tell that team behind the scenes is pretty damn good!! 👏🏾🙌😂," observed a social media user.

Someone else noted, "I love you Glen, but why do resemble Tom Cruise here! 😂😂😂"

Another fan hilariously summed up, "Eli Manning is Tom Cruise in Glen Powell the movie."
