WASHINGTON, DC: Following the ordering of a fresh election over two years after the first one, Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Saturday, June 15, highlighted what he considered to be a textbook case of voter fraud in a judicial contest in the Houston region, according to The Hill.

Remarkably, in the 2022 contest for the 180th District Court, only 450 votes separated the Democratic and Republican candidates, as reported by a Houston judge who nullified the results due to the discovery of nearly 1,400 illegal ballots.

Abbott wrote on X, "Voter fraud is real. Especially [sic] in Houston. The Judge hearing the case ordered a redo of the election. We must end voter fraud."

Interestingly, the judge's seat will be up for reelection, although an appeal of the decision is expected.

According to Judge David Peeples, an inquiry revealed that 983 ballots cast in the 2022 election were deemed unlawful due to the voters' non-residential status or other residency-related problems.

Additionally, 48 postal ballots either arrived after the deadline or lacked required signatures, and 445 voters did not possess valid photo identification.

In 2022, the Democratic candidate Judge DaSean Jones won against Republican Tami Pierce and has held the judge seat since then. Jones, who was first elected in 2018, is now running as a candidate for the Texas Supreme Court.

Regarding Peeples' 2022 election challenge, resolutions included the May decision, with no new vote or changes in the electoral results for the other 20 cases. However, in the 180th District election, the judge ruled for a new vote due to uncertainty about the recipients of the illegal ballots.

Internet trolls Greg Abbott as he highlights voter fraud in judicial contest

Several internet users slammed Greg Abbott as he highlighted what he considered to be a textbook case of voter fraud in a judicial contest in the Houston region.

A user wrote on X, "Let me guess. The election didn’t go his way," while one added, "Omg, will republicans ever quit crying?" [sic]

A person also stated, "It’s only 'voter fraud' when they lose," whereas one mentioned, "It's 'election fraud' not voter fraud. Words are important."

A user also said, "Yet none of you have done anything about it but post on here and blow smoke. Why don’t you actually hold someone accountable and do something about it," while one added, "When Republicans start pushing reforms in areas where they win, let me know. If voter fraud is as big as they say, it means it’s happening in their districts too."
