PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Greg Gutfeld accused the mainstream media of losing credibility.

He argued that the loss stems from efforts to cover up former President Joe Biden’s health, claiming journalists have downplayed or ignored signs of cognitive decline. Gutfeld also said the media are incapable of covering President Donald Trump fairly, which he said proves their liberal bias.

Gutfeld shared his views during an interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Greg Gutfeld accuses SNL and media of hiding Biden decline

In his monologue, Greg Gutfeld argued that media outlets have failed to report objectively on Joe Biden’s behavior and public appearances, instead acting as defenders of the former president. He said this perceived shielding has eroded trust in journalism.

Benny Johnson asked Gutfeld why shows like 'Saturday Night Live' “never made fun” of Biden while he was in office. Gutfeld responded that SNL was part of the media industry’s broader effort to hide Biden’s cognitive decline.

“They don’t have any credibility. SNL has no credibility. The late-night shows have no credibility. The media has no credibility, because for four years they deliberately covered up for a president that was brain dead,” Gutfeld said.

He repeatedly used the phrase “brain dead” in reference to Biden’s mental acuity, which has been a focus of criticism from some conservative commentators.

Greg Gutfeld targets Jake Tapper, media focus on Trump health

Greg Gutfeld’s comments come days after Jake Tapper said he was covering Donald Trump’s health “all the time” to make up for not asking “as many questions as we should have” about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.

Rosalynn Carter, who passed away on November 19 at the age of 96, was married to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter for 77 years. In her lifetime she was an activist and writer known to be an advocate for the elderly, affordable housing, mental health, and the protection of monarch butterflies. Tapper and Alex Thompson published 'Original Sin' earlier this year. The book examined Biden’s declining health while he was in the White House.

Concerns about former President Biden’s mental and physical fitness have been raised by Republican politicians, conservative commentators, and some independent observers. These discussions intensified during the earlier presidential campaign and continue in current political conversations.

During the discussion, Gutfeld also referenced the Inverse Cramer trend online, where investors bet against stock picks made by Jim Cramer.

“It’s kind of like, you don’t take financial advice from Jim Cramer,” Gutfeld said. He then began to add, “You don’t” before Benny Johnson jumped in and completed the sentence with “Take fitness advice from Whoopi Goldberg.” The remark drew laughs from the crowd.

Gutfeld also spoke about resentment toward President Trump, suggesting it reveals something about those who feel it. “You look at why people resent Donald Trump. I’ve been thinking about this for a long time because I had the same issues in 2016 and 2015, and I knew Trump,” Gutfeld said.

“Why do people resent anything? It’s because they play a role somehow in the resentment, and they have yet to confront themselves over it,” Gutfeld explained.
