NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld snapped at co-host Gillian Turner on Friday, December 5, after she pointed out that FIFA's peace prize awarded to President Donald Trump was made specifically for him.

During a discussion on 'The Five' about the US hosting the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Gutfeld praised FIFA for choosing Trump as the recipient of their newly formed award.

Greg Gutfeld says Trump is 'going around the world basically brokering peace'

Greg Gutfeld said during the segment, "I also love that the peace prize from FIFA, it didn’t go to like Greta Thunberg or some silly little peace activist."

Meanwhile, Gillian Turner quickly interrupted his comment, saying, "Because it was created for the president."

Gutfeld, who wasn't impressed by Turner's reply, said, "So?" and Turner said, "That’s what [FIFA President] Gianni Infantino said."

"What’s your beaf with this? What’s your problem?" Gutfeld then asked Turner, as Turner said there were no other candidates. She added that it wasn’t like Trump beat out other people for the prize.

Defending Trump, Gutfeld said, "So? What’s your point? Do you want that it went to Amnesty International or Greenpeace?"

Meanwhile, Truner replied, saying she doesn't understand why FIFA needs such an award. Gutfeld chimed in and said, "I’ll tell you why, because they care."

After his statement, co-host Jesse Watters interjected and said, "Because they’re kissing his butt," as Turner agreed.

"Because he’s hosting the game," Watters added.

Following this, Gutfeld continued his defence for Trump and said, "He is going around the world basically brokering peace. Why shouldn’t he get a peace prize? Not that I really care, but this is just fun.'

Turner clarified saying she didn’t say Trump didn’t deserve it but Gutfeld did not agree with her statement.

"I said it’s not gonna help him in his quest to get the Nobel Peace Prize. That was my point. That was my free expert advice for Gianni Infantino," Turner added.

Award highlights growing ties between Trump and FIFA

The inaugural FIFA peace prize, which was awarded to Donald Trump, highlighted the increasingly close relationship between FIFA and the President's inner circle ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Moreover, FIFA recently appointed Ivanka Trump, the POTUS' daughter, to the board of a $100 million education initiative funded by tournament revenues.

Interestingly, Infantino and President Trump have appeared together frequently, with the FIFA chief arguing that football can "invest in happiness" even if it cannot solve all conflicts.

Even though Republicans have cheered the recognition, framing it as a precursor to a potential Nobel Peace Prize, opponents have viewed the award as a political manoeuvre.

While accepting the award, Trump described it as "one of the great honors of my life" before launching into a defense of his global record.
