Megyn Kelly rips into Whoopi Goldberg over ‘The View’ salary comments: ‘She’s a fool’
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly has unleashed a sharp attack on Whoopi Goldberg after the longtime ‘The View’ host made comments about her paycheck that quickly became a talking point.
During the Thursday, August 6, episode of ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’, Kelly questioned what Goldberg was trying to say when she discussed her salary and claimed viewers “would be shocked” by how much she earns from the ABC talk show.

Kelly opened the segment by directly taking aim at Goldberg’s comments.
“Speaking of people in our industry, Whoopi Goldberg would like you to know she gets a huge paycheck, huge over at ‘The View', but she's still just a common person who works for a living," the former Fox News host said.
“I’m not sure where she's going with this, but let's listen together,” she added before playing footage of Goldberg speaking about her earnings.
The EGOT winner made the comments on Tuesday while appearing on the ‘Baby, This is Keke Palmer’ podcast.

“I love the check.”

She said fans “would be shocked” by the size of her paycheck, leaving Kelly trying to work out whether Goldberg believed she was making too much or too little.
“I can't totally tell there. She's suggesting it's incredibly large or incredibly small,” Kelly further said.
She then pointed to reporting by independent journalist Yashar Ali, who she said had previously reported that Goldberg was earning $6 million a year.
“So, if she's lamenting it's too strong… [or] it's too low, she's a fool,” Kelly remarked. “And if she's bragging that it's too big, she's unlikable. I mean, either way, this is not a great comment”.
Megyn Kelly doesn't think Whoopi Goldberg 'understands the plight of working people'
Kelly’s criticism went beyond the size of Goldberg’s paycheck.
The conservative commentator took particular issue with Goldberg appearing to suggest that she understood the struggles facing ordinary workers.
“She actually goes on to just suggest she understands the plight of working people”, Kelly said.
Goldberg had spoken about knowing that things are “hard out there” for people, but Kelly strongly rejected the idea that the star could relate to those struggles.
“I don't think she does know. I don't think she knows a thing,” she said.

Kelly later returned to Goldberg’s finances, arguing that she did not appear to be struggling financially.
“She’s not in the poor house,” the 55-year-old said. “I think she's doing just fine”.
Kelly also suggested Goldberg may believe she deserves a larger paycheck, but said she disagreed.
“I would beg to differ,” she said, arguing that the show’s ratings did not support paying Goldberg more.
