NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Actress Halle Berry did not hold back when asked about the idea of California Governor Gavin Newsom running for president at the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday, November 4.

The ‘Perfect Stranger’ actress said, “With the way he’s overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be the next president.” She criticized his lack of support for the Menopause Care Equity Act and called out his decision to veto a similar bill in the past.

Halle Berry emphasized the broader impact of menopause, saying, “If men had a medical condition that disrupted their sleep, brain function, and sex life, we’d be calling that a health crisis on par with Covid, and the whole world would shut down.”

She continued, “When women are struggling silently through perimenopause and menopause, trying to hold their families, careers, relationships, and communities together, it doesn’t just affect women, it affects every household.”

Berry stressed the economic and workplace consequences: “It affects the workplace, it affects the economy. One in six women leave the workplace due to their menopausal symptoms. So it affects everybody. I need every woman in this country to fight with me.”

She added, “But the truth is, the fight isn’t just for us women. We need men too. We need all of the leaders, every single one of you in this room—this fight needs you. We need you to stay curious. We need you to ask questions. We need you to care even when the topic feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable.”

Berry concluded, “At this stage of my life, I have zero f**ks left to give,” underlining her commitment to raising awareness around women’s health.

Gavin Newsom says he’ll weigh a presidential run after the 2026 midterms

Gavin Newsom has previously indicated he is considering a presidential run. In an exclusive conversation with CBS News Sunday Morning, recorded in San Jose, Newsom said he would think about a White House bid after the 2026 midterms.

“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,” Newsom said. “I’d just be lying, and I can’t do that. If you have a compelling why, you can endure any how. People see right through you if you don’t have that why.”

Newsom, who will leave office in January 2027 due to term limits, stressed that any decision regarding a presidential run is still far off. When asked if he is getting closer to finding a reason to run nationally, he added, “Fate will determine that.”
