CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA: Prince Harry may have been hundreds of miles away, but for a few heartwarming moments, he completely stole the spotlight from Meghan Markle’s 'MasterChef Australia' debut.

On the Sunday, July 26, episode, while the Duchess of Sussex was busy judging dishes and chatting with contestants, an unexpected video call from her husband lit up the kitchen, turning a cooking competition into one of the sweetest royal moments viewers have seen in months.

Harry's surprise video call melts hearts

The unexpected moment unfolded while Meghan Markle was seated with the 'MasterChef Australia' judges, sampling dishes prepared by the contestants.

In the middle of the tasting session, Meghan’s phone suddenly rang. With an instant smile, she answered the call, revealing Prince Harry on the screen.

“Hi, my love! My husband’s here,” Meghan said warmly as she introduced Harry to the judges and contestants gathered around her.

Harry appeared amused by the surprise interruption and jokingly asked, “What’s going on? Have I interrupted something important?”

His playful arrival immediately lifted the mood inside the kitchen, with contestants reacting with surprise as the Duke of Sussex casually joined the competition from a video call.

Meghan quickly explained that she was in the middle of judging dishes and told Harry about the talented home cooks competing on the show.

She also teased him about missing out on some of the food, especially one spicy sauce that she believed might be too intense for him.

“I wish you could try this. These dishes are fantastic... there’s a hot sauce that is so good. I think it might be too much for you. It’s spicy,” she said.

Harry, who was in Canberra attending engagements with military veterans, kept the call brief but encouraged Meghan to continue enjoying the experience.

“Well, go and enjoy it. I’m very sorry to disturb you. All is well here. I’ll see you later,” he told her before ending the call.

As the screen went dark, the kitchen erupted in applause.

Reports of friction in marriage emerge

The sweet exchange comes amid ongoing speculation surrounding Harry and Meghan’s future, with some commentators claiming the couple has different views about where they want to build their lives.

Recent reports from British media have suggested Harry remains interested in spending more time in the UK and repairing relationships with King Charles III and Prince William, while Meghan is said to prefer keeping their family life centered in the United States.

Trooping the Colour, also known as The King's Birthday Parade, is a military ceremony to mark the official birthday of the British Sovereign. The ceremony, which takes place at Horse Guards Parade followed by a flypast over Buckingham Palace, was first performed in the mid-17th century during the reign of King Charles II. Neither the Duke nor Duchess of Sussex has publicly confirmed those claims.

Against those swirling rumours, Harry’s unexpected appearance on Meghan’s phone painted a far more personal picture, one filled with laughter, affection, and support.
