WASHINGTON, DC: Dr Anthony Fauci left people on the internet divided after reportedly claiming that because of Fox News and Marjorie Taylor Greene, he and his family are getting death threats after he led the US’ Coronavirus Pandemic response in 2020.

The 83-year-old physician-scientist testified before the House Select Subcommittee on his handling of COVID-19 on Capitol Hill on Monday, June 3, after being accused of issuing strict rules during the pandemic.

As reported by mediaite.com, Fauci has also been accused of suppressing the proof of the virus’ origin by the Republicans.

Dr Anthony Fauci blames Republicans and Fox News for attack on him

Following his testimony, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases went on CNN’s ‘The Source’.

Host Kaitlan Collins asked him, “You testified there at the end about the threats that you and your family are still getting even to this day. And I just wonder if you ever thought that you would still be getting threats like that, credible threats against your life even now, two years out of government service.”

To which, he reportedly answered, “It’s very interesting. It’s a pattern, Kaitlan, that whenever somebody gets up – whether it’s a news media, you know Fox News, does it a lot, or it’s somebody in the Congress who gets up and makes a public statement that’s responsible for the deaths of X number of people because of policies or some crazy idea that I created – immediately, it’s like clockwork.”

Fauci further explained, “The death threats go way up,” before adding, “So, that’s the reason why I’m still getting death threats when you have performances like that unusual performance by Marjorie Taylor Greene in today’s hearing, those are the kind of things that drive up the death threats because there is a segment of the population out there that believe that kind of nonsense.”

Internet users allege ‘Fauci failed America’

People on the internet have reacted to the veteran immunologist’s remarks as one person on X tweeted, “Fauci is right. And he should sue all the MAGA mental cases putting a target on his back for trying to protect folks during Trump's pandemic FAIL. Greene is just the loudest, dumbest rightwing distraction. #VoteSeriously.”

The second user slamming Fauci wrote, “Bro u lied about so many things.”

The third user said, “At least they didn't actually ‘fuel death’ as he did with his rules and regulations with no scientific basis that hurt millions and crippled the nation. Meanwhile, top MDs in the world who challenged him suddenly had their licenses threatened & work silenced. Fauci failed America.”

But one supporter of Fauci shared, “It is criminal what the maga republicans are doing to Dr. Fauci. The Trump administration’s failures caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. Dr Fauci in fact saved hundreds of thousands of lives.”

Another one added, “Which is why Marjorie Taylor Greene needs to be drummed out of the Congress, especially when (not if, but when) the Democrats take back the House in a landslide in Nov. Our nation has had enough of Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
