WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump made yet another controversial statement, this time saying that former Rep Liz Cheney and all members of the House Select Committee, tasked to investigate the January 6 Capitol Hill insurrection, should be behind bars.

The ex-POTUS' comment came after a new report from the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight disclosed that the Secret Service driver's testimony contradicted the one provided by former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson, as per NBC News

Donald Trump calls the January 6 committee an 'unselect committee'

On Sunday, March 17, Trump took to Truth Social and declared, "[Cheney] should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!" linking a Just the News article claiming that the January 6 committee held back crucial information from the public.

It also noted that former Rep Cheney was the one to interview the unnamed Secret Service driver.

Trump is currently facing numerous legal challenges, including one examining his role in the 2021 Capitol insurrection.

The star witness for the January 6 committee, Hutchinson, had testified that the ex-POTUS apparently attempted to take hold of the wheel of the presidential SUV and drive toward the Capitol on the day of the insurrection.

However, the Secret Service driver recounted, "I did not see [Trump] reach. He never grabbed the steering wheel. I didn’t see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all," per The Hill.

Liz Cheney responds to Donald Trump's demand of putting members of the January 6 committee behind bars

After Trump raged on Truth Social, Liz Cheney, vice chair of the January 6 committee, took to X (formerly Twitter) to provide her response.

She wrote, "Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be."

Internet trolls Donald Trump over his remarks against the January 6 committee

A Facebook user wrote, "Crazy Trump keeps showing that he's authoritarian," and another said, "Who cares what he calls for he's a private citizen."

A person remarked, "He is crazy," while someone else shared, "Because Trump thinks he should be able to point at someone and have them jailed. Seriously, he's incredibly dangerous."

"it sounds like a plan," quipped one more. An individual expressed, "Oh yes, he's the Great Projector. He sees his crimes in others. Because it's after his jail time."
