Here's how Shannen Doherty drew inspiration from Brad Pitt's on-screen habits when filming '90210' reboot
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Shannen Doherty, who died from cancer at the age of 53 on July 13, is making headlines once again following the release of a previously recorded episode on 'The House of Halliwell' podcast.
This episode, which debuted on August 6, months after her death, featured Doherty discussing her experiences and inspirations.
In the episode, Doherty talked about how Brad Pitt's films influenced her role in the '90210' reboot. She also shared insights into her use of props in fantasy movies and how she navigated challenges associated with them.
How Brad Pitt inspired Shannen Doherty?
In a revealing conversation with her 'Charmed' co-star Tony Denison on 'The House of Halliwell' podcast, released posthumously, Shannen Doherty shared her long-standing fear of using props on set.
Reflecting on her time filming the fantasy drama series, Doherty admitted she was initially reluctant to use props, due to strict instructions from script supervisors to precisely match props for continuity. "I was so hyper-aware of that."
However, Doherty's perspective changed during the '90210' reboot, where she decided to embrace the use of props. Inspired by Brad Pitt, who frequently ate on-screen in his movies, she chose to incorporate eating into every scene as a way to break free from her inhibitions, she said during the August 6 episode.
Doherty revealed that she ended up enjoying the use of props “a lot” in the reboot, though she acknowledged that achieving perfect continuity on 'Charmed' was challenging, as per People.
Shannen Doherty’s co-star Jason Priestley shares stories about Brad Pitt
Jason Priestley, who starred with Shannen Doherty on '90210,' was once roommates with Brad Pitt. In January, Priestley, 54, shared on 'Live with Kelly and Mark' that he and Pitt lived together for a short time in a cramped two-bedroom apartment in a rough part of LA.
Priestley described the living situation, saying it was challenging. “Brad wasn’t as bad as my other roommate, who was an absolute disaster,” he said.
“But Brad was okay. We used to play this game, all of us, to see who could go the longest without showering. I think about it now and I’m like, dude, how disgusting. What were you thinking?”
Priestley noted that Pitt often won these contests. “Always Brad,” he said. “I don’t think he does that anymore, but back then, he could go a long time without showering..”
In his 2014 memoir, 'Jason Priestley: A Memoir,' Priestley recounted their time together. He mentioned that their third roommate let Pitt sleep in Priestley’s bed while he was away.
“We lived on ramen noodles and generic beer — the kind that came in white cans labeled BEER — and Marlboro Light cigarettes,” Priestley wrote.
This period came before Pitt became famous with 'Thelma and Louise' in 1991 and before Priestley started his long role in '90210.' “We were all broke,” Priestley added.
