LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brad Pitt reportedly regrets how his prolonged legal disputes with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, were the reason behind his children's gradual estrangement from him.

Following an allegedly nasty argument on an overseas trip in 2016, the former couple—who share Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15—separated.

Public hostility between the once-darling pair escalated over the years, particularly regarding the French vineyard Chateau Miraval, which they purchased together in 2008.

Brad Pitt regrets that his children no longer want to use his last name

Since Brad and Angelina's divorce, most of their children have turned away from their father.

Their daughter Shiloh applied to formally change her name to "Shiloh Jolie" from "Shiloh Jolie-Pitt" on her 18th birthday, while Zahara and Vivienne decided to drop the last name "Pitt" on an informal basis.

The 'Troy' actor was seemingly hurt by his children's decision to change their names.

An insider revealed, "The kids’ dropping Brad’s name is just the tip of the iceberg. Brad spent a lot of time and money trying to do what he thought was the right thing for his kids, but now he’s wondering if it was worth it," as per OK! Magazine.

According to the source, the actor fought valiantly to acquire the expansive winery because "Miraval was something for the kids to have and build on when he’s gone. If they don’t want it, it’s a moot point."

Brad is said to be working on himself to win back his children's forgiveness, as sources claimed that the situation has forced him to examine himself closely and acknowledge that his actions might have contributed to the circumstance.

The insider added that he feels "sorry for everything that went down" and "knows he wasn’t a model husband or dad during the time they were together," despite their ups and downs throughout the years.

The tipster further noted that although Brad is heartbroken over how his relationship with his children ended, he continues to hope for a reconciliation, and their rejection motivates him to change and seek their pardon.

According to the insider, the 'Fight Club' star is choosing to stay sober and has grown into a "better person" as a result, and he "knows he can't force the issue" and force them to "want to see him," so he would respect their schedule.

They concluded by saying, "It has to be on their terms, but he’ll be there when they’re ready."

However, they added, "Brad’s kids want nothing to do with him."

The 'Troy' actor is aware that he needs to make amends with Angelina before he can talk to his children and he's prepared to give in.
